What the fuck did he do to earn it? I think this question becomes highly relevant after 4 years of his administration.
So please, drive Obama's ambulance and thrill me with your socio-political acumen on how this fucking fraud got Nobel prize.
Remember, to earn something' you have to satisfy the element BEFORE you get awarded the prize.
Yes, this was discussed heavily a couple of years ago here. But I believe in light of all he has--or hasn't--done, the topic should be revisited.

January 21: Obama met with the ambassador to Iraq, commander in Iraq, and regional commander to receive a complete briefing on the war.
January 22: Obama ordered the closure of the Guantanamo Bay detention center.
January 22: Obama signed an executive order explicitly prohibiting the use of torture and ordering all U.S. forces to obey the Army Field Manual. He also ordered a review of the case of Ali Saleh al-Marri, a detainee held on a Naval brig in South Carolina.
January 22: Obama met with numerous retired generals.
January 23: Obama rescinded the Mexico City policy, which had prevented nongovernmental organizations from receiving government funding if they supplied family planning assistance or abortions abroad.
January 23: Obama calls Prime Minister Harper of Canada, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Gordon Brown of Britain, and Ban Ki-moon, secretary general of the United Nations.
January 26: Obama announced his appointing of Todd Stern to the new position of special envoy for climate change -- recognizing the environment as a pressing foreign-policy concern.
January 27: More phone calls. This time Obama speaks with Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, South African President Kgalema Motlanthe, and Prime Minister Taro Aso of Japan.
Its funny because none of these fucking things did anything to improve the peace of this world. Torture is still used, Guantanamo is still open, Our boys are still in the middle east. FUCK YOU OBAMA AND THE REST OF THE U.S GOVERNMENT.

Obama received it because the committee wanted to show support for him; it was political and nothing more. It's a fucking joke though, especially because the deadline for nominations was only 12 days after his presidency started. The committee defended it saying he "paved the way for new negotiations with the Russian Federation about nuclear arms." Total

As far as I can tell, it was because the nobel committee didn't like Bush's policy and liked what Obama promised to do better, and thus wanted to support the new policy.
That's about it. The award further disgraced the peace award, as if it could get any worse after the past recipients (which included Kissinger and 'Mother' Therressa, neither of which ever did a damn thing for peace as far as I can tell and both caused untold death and suffering).

Race was irrelevant. It was really simple- Obama wasn't Bush. The Nobel Peace Prize has become a complete joke; giving it to Obama highlights how meaningless the award has become.

He invented the freaking internet, that's why he is so awesome. That and the fact he calls himself an environmentalist while allowing strip mining on his property which released tons of toxic substances into the environment. The nobel commitee has no credibility anymore. I dont think they serve the will of alfred nobel but there own will nowdays. Another good group gone corrupt

Obama didn't start any wars. What he did was close out the already scheduled to be closed at that time Iraq war (conculusion--bushes plan) and implemented Bushes other foreign imperialism but put it on steroids.
And 1.1 million prize? Gee, I didn't know it paid so well to be an Elitist Socialist.
