I would put it like this
WW2 in HD(for obvious reasons) Band of Brothers Saving Private Ryan
my top 3 WW2 related films. i know ones real one is a series and one is a movie but theyre similar enough to compare.
Band of Brothers may actually be my fave. i never watched ten hours in a row and kept interest before that and loved Captain Spears n the luteinant who goes nuts with the blonde hair.

Ron Livingston's character in BoB was awesome

The Pacific was crap in comparison to Band of Brothers but it's still definitely worth your time too. I think BoB is my favorite thing on screen ever made so I have a bias.

Hah, when he got pinged in the helmet and knocked down during the Market Garden retreat.
I'm all right! I'm all right... am I all right?
Stop looking at me like that!

I think if I would have seen The Pacific before Band of Brothers, I would have thought it was a lot better. But I was constantly comparing it to BoB, even though it was made 10 years earlier, it just raised the bar so fucking high, nothing they could make could touch it.

The movie is bloody brilliant, except for the stupid emotional bookends. But hey, that's Spielberg for ya.

i thought it had a pretty happy ending
THough when Hebrew Hammer died and his friend failed to avenge him i was tearing up inside. more over the fact that he could have prevented the death had he followed the sounds of the struggle. in fact he knew who was in there and that they needed him.

Oh dude, that was fucking brutal. Upham was his name, right? He was just a war reporter that was picked by the group cause he was the only one of them that knew German.
Just a scared little kid. At least he got revenge on that guy at the end though.
I don't know if you realized it, but the guy that killed Mellish (the hebrew hammer) was let go when they attacked the machine gun nest when Wade died. Upham was the one that talked them into letting ze German go. So it kinda went full circle.

Wow, guess I was wrong.
Many people who saw the film were confused as to whether the German soldier that kills Corporal Mellish is also "Steamboat Willie." They are in fact, different soldiers. The soldier that kills Mellish has Waffen SS lapel insignia, while "Steamboat Willie" has the lapel insignia of an enlisted soldier in the regular German Army.
