ATLANTA (AP) — A government survey shows more teens are now smoking pot than cigarettes.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Thursday that 23 percent of high school students said they recently smoked marijuana, while 18 percent said they had puffed cigarettes. The survey asked teens about a variety of risky behaviors.
For decades, the number of teens who smoke has been on the decline. Marijuana use has fluctuated, and recently rose. At times, pot and cigarette smoking were about the same level, but last year marked the first time marijuana use was clearly greater.
An earlier survey by the University of Michigan also found that pot smoking was higher. A Michigan expert said teens today apparently see marijuana as less dangerous than cigarettes.

You know, it does make you think that maybe kids really do listen to what the govt tells them. Smoking has been hated on for years and years by the govt and kids stopped smoking them. Weed has been approved as medicine for patients in some states and now more kids are smoking weed than ever. Stupid kids, stop listening to the govt...or wait, do listen to the govt? I don't know what to believe anymore!

Maybe people see it as less dangerous because it is. We know a lot more than we did before. Also you think they'd be smart enough to figure out greater effect does not equal greater harm.

high schoolers need it more than anyone. god that shit was miserable. only good day of the week was friday where i had free period PE classes until 1:30 senior year. i would toke like a monster before going to school (and i had no tolerance as i wasn't a pothead). honestly i had more fun high at school than high anywhere else never been a huge weed fan, but i guess i knew it was better than school sober.
