i started "work" as a personal trainer , had to pay $1000.00 straight up for "training" which never eventuated , instead i am just doing gym inductions , free p.t sessions etc . this has been going on for a week with the first month free {gym floor rental} as long as i do 20 hours. already these clowns are giving me attitude if im a minute late , or if i show up without brand new shoes . today i was told i would have to do three times as many free hours as eveybody else because my bisiness number wont come through for another 21 days and its for my own good to work for free 6 days a week with 6.00 am starts. i held myself back from telling him to go fuck himself and he then said i could get a full refund on my $1000.00 so 10 minutes later i decided this industry is full of slick sales creeps and bad attitudes. if you are trying to make a go of things as a p.t watch out for scumbags that promise the world and deliver fuck all. very relieved to be getting out and get my money back before signing a locked in direct debit contract with these crooks. sorry for the rambling nature of this thread , hopefully it will make others aware of some of the pitfalls that come from being too positive towards making this career happen.

Just apply somewhere else. Stick it out a couple months if you really need to / if you want to have experience and a contract you can leverage.
Take sick days / personal days to go on interviews. If the employer (prospective, that is) wants to know why you are leaving after only 2 months (or however long) on the job, just state the facts. They changed the terms and made you work more time for less money. Just be careful not to vent...just convey the facts.
I feel ya...work can really suck.

I'd sit down with a local detective on this one. I'm betting you can file criminal charges and stuff. Con artists are con artists period. And they always have a propensity to do things that are illegal, whether you know it is or not.
