can someone provide some links/images of bugs to watch out for ?

i think this bastard has started to dine on my little peyote! i've noticed some very tiny holes on the outer skin, and i am wondering if that is the cause?

IME, the only bugs I've had problems with are spider mites. It appears they didn't like mescaline/PEA alks too much ...

is it not uncommon for tiny pinhole size breaks in the skin to happen? what does damage from the mites look like ?

I doubt it was spider mites if it was White. The only White bug that comes to mind that commonly attack cacti are mealy bugs but they're not tiny like you describe. Look into Whitefly as well.

Fungus gnat larvae are whitish and tiny and can attack lophs, but they look like worms. You would probably see the fruitfly-like adults around too if you had them.

tried to take a pic... he's more silvery looking than anything, but too small for even my good eyesight to resolve... about the size of a pinhead

i think the one i saw earlier was more brownish colored

Do you have a microscope? I so I say kill one with alcohol and place it under 10X objective. Then snap a pic through the eyepiece.
