Who likes snakes?
    #16322444 - 06/02/12 06:39 PM (11 months, 11 days ago)

I love reptiles...and thought i'd start a thread about them, dunno if this is the appropriate place... hers some pics of some gawjus specimens some very trippy charachters i'm sure you'll agree...

Albertisi python

Albino Albertisi

Lavander Albino Retic

can't remember if this is a snow or leucistic retic

think the dark one is a golden child and the other a leucistic...correct me if i'm wrong...

and finally my ball python bang bang

Fave species? Is morphing different species ethical? They are beautiful.. But is it it natural? Whats your opinion... love em or hate em.. share your faves.. These are just a couple recent ones i've seen. i love ATB's ETb's and pretty much all snakes... Aussie pythons rule! Jungle carpets are among my faves... . Do you have a fave morph?

snakes are cool as shit provided that they cant bite and or kill me. they are really peculiar the way they slither around and stuff. and when they are coiling around you you can feel them constricting you and stuff. they're fairly awesome. i like how they just seem to be able to coil themselves around anything and everything. if people were playing a game of twister and someone let a big snake crawl all through the pile of people, they would be fully bound together and wouldn't be able to seperate

I had 3 jim... a cali kingsnake, (the wolf) a jungle carpet (JungleJim)and the bottom one is mine... a ball python called BB...

I was away for a year and 2 of them died, the person looking after them was recomended by RSPCA...when i got my ball python back it wasn't even the same one!!! Bitch tried to pass off a snake which had burns from light fittings and it had marks which appear to be from being fed live prey... Didn't even resemble my snake... That feud is still ongoing and idk if its a police matter yet... I hate having anything to do with pigs... but fuck this is my little pride and joys we are talkin bout:(

Reptiles always gave me bad vibes, and to this day I swear this is something sinister and demonic about their facial structures.

I lived with this kid for a year who's getting a degree in snakes. He spends his summers in Africa flying into villages on helicopters and catching poisonous snakes that invade people's homes.

total badass.

LOL...yeah i know what you mean... but don't you think they get a bad rep cos of the bible?...I think it's a shame... They really are fascinating creatures... I remember getting into a fierce argument with my texan gf about rattlesnakes and the way they are rounded up and executed in some areas of US..She advocates this. There is alot that can be learned from them...especially their venom... I could show you guys who inject their venom and other snakes even mamba venoms! and have became resistant, it's also being used to make all sorts of drugs, from cancer prevention/possible cures etc and so on and so forth... The Gila monsters venom apparently conatins a cure for diabetes so need to watch what happens with that one...

I love snakes.

Used to work at a snake park with the big and the small, the harmless and the deadly. Never took a venomous bite which I attribute to respecting them and not trying to use them to extend my ego.
At one stage had 23 of my own at home. Have none now as I immigrated but would like some more soon.

Sorry no pics, lost them when my HP gave in (shitest laptop ever, three months out of warranty)

Killed everyone of em... and just ate them when it wanted after that...

i love em. spent some time working with them.  mostly reticulated pythons. probably the most fun i had while working.
i like the albert's  python you posted to start off the thread. not many are aware of the beauty of that specie.
I have some Boas, but i don't have any pictures of them thanks to my laptop being stolen.
If i can find some, i'll come back up post em up.
i approve of this thread

I love snakes. I've kept a shitload of them. Off the top of my head I've had a Peruvian redtail boa, green Burmese python, albino Burmese python, Pueblan milksnake, Chinese garter snake, copperhead, and Western Hognose. Probably a few more that I'm leaving out.

I keep lizards and frogs too. I've worked in pet stores off and on for shit, something like 13 years, always in the reptile or fish departments. I love hitting up reptile shows just to see what they have. Went to one in PA last year where they were selling all kinds of cobras, eyelash vipers, Gaboon vipers, rattlesnakes, and a ton of other venomous stuff.

Right now I have a red phase western hognose, tokay gecko, crested gecko, Pyxie frog, and a Budgett's frog. Thing that sucks is I just started dating a girl who is deathly afraid of snakes. If things work out with her it's looking like one of my friends is going to be inheriting a hognose.

candflip, I give you props for keeping the blood and tree pythons, both of those snakes are assholes. Same goes for retics. I've been bitten by my fair share of both blood and tree pythons. I'm amazed how wide the tree pythons can open their mouths, it's like a full 180 degrees. One hit the top of my hand and I had a perfect bloody imprint of the teeth from both his upper and lower jaws.

Here's some pics of stuff I've kept/caught in the past:

Southern banded water snake:

Black rat snake:

Rough green snake:

Pueblan milk snake:

Ring-neck snake:

Black racer (mean fuckers):

Southern copperhead:

Tokay gecko (also mean):

Crested gecko:

Pyxie frog:

I'll post more pics when I'm not too lazy to upload them

Awesome...you obviously do a bit of wild capture... We only have Grass snakes or adders here:(  And i've never seen one in real life... Just pics.... Those racers are cool and like that wee green one you got there...which species is it? Green Tree snake?

Tom Crutchfield is a heroe of mine... He has dedicated his life to these animals and produced so many himself and created some stunning varieties...

Love the Tokay...they bark like a dog lol...too cute...

She is a wonderful creature. Her breed brings around great energies. My room mate was terrified of snakes before he met her, now he loves them :].

I'm hoping I can get the girl I'm dating now to let her fear of snakes go. I get the "there's no fucking way I'd even try" vibe from her on the issue though.

candflip, I give you props for keeping the blood and tree pythons, both of those snakes are assholes.

Yea they can be little bitches man . My tree pythons weren't as bad as the blood though .
Ive gotten the blood nicer when I had it but a part of him always wanted to bite the shit out of me .
I would love to get a Normal retic and a Labyrinth burm , but the stupid laws in FL require a permit .
Im not gonna pay 100 a year to keep an animal I like , so im looking for someone to ship me one or sell me one who doesn't care .

Used to work at a snake park with the big and the small, the harmless and the deadly. Never took a venomous bite which I attribute to respecting them and not trying to use them to extend my ego.
At one stage had 23 of my own at home. Have none now as I immigrated but would like some more soon.

Sorry no pics, lost them when my HP gave in (shitest laptop ever, three months out of warranty)

awesome..had no dealings with venomous personally.. i love bothrops and those gawjus green tree pit vipers... Fave venomous prolly has to be the mamba (black/green) and the taipan..awesome snakes... i saw a cool vid on utube of a mamba taking out a burrow of mice! A whole fuckin burrow! Killed everyone of em... and just ate them when it wanted after that...

The mamba's were always my favourite. It's like watching a shark feeding frenzy (without the blood) when feeding a bunch of them. We were feeding some green mamba's in a walk-in enclosure when the mouse falls from the tree and one of the guys I worked with picked it up and lightly tossed it passed the green mamba with a sarcastic "catch". And the damn thing caught it in mid-air

I love Gaboon vipers, I'd love to keep one. But those fuckers are one of the few snakes that can strike backwards, sideways, etc. And they have the longest fangs in the world and deadly venom. Fuck that noise.

They do look bad ass though , but not worth it .

I personally love the Aussie goanna..think that is an awesome lizard or obviously the Komodo....

yeh don't think i could keep one of them feckers:) Fast and agile ain't the word...they defo have an intelligence higher than most snakes... Especially retics... Very curious they are and i am still amazed at how different they are from other snakes intelligence wise.....I got tagged 3 times today off  my ball python... the bugger got into my gas fire and i had to get an engineer out to take the thing apart...Little bugger really showed me his strength...took a good hour of wrestling with him/her... Lost a good 5-10ml blood.. but i got him out unharmed bathed him cos he was filthy covered in dust... Thankfuck he never went up the lum which i'm sure he wanted to lol...little fucker had me sweatin like a rapist!  God knows how i woulda coped with a retic or burm in there lol think it woulda been a 2 man job:)

the power of a 200 pound retic is seriously jaw dropping.
So glad i never got tagged by anything bigger than about a 12ft.
I would seriously doubt that even with 10 guys you could get a big retic out of a chimeny,
They're skin is so slick you can't get a grip on it, and as said already, it's scary how smart those fuckers are

She has the best temperament, has never bitten anyone and loves being out of her cage, we took her to the vet for a checkup and to get probed and even when the vet was forcing her mouth open with one of those cotton buds on a stick she didn't care just wanted to be out

I love rattlers but I've come fairly close to being bit several times.  I almost wet myself when I was tracking a guy's deer and nearly stepped on one.  I was in thick brush so couldn't see it and my right ear can't hear for shit so it's hard for me to tell which direction sounds come from sometimes.  I just backed out and got lucky.

Here's my boa Morgaine that I post in every snake thread
