Used to work at a snake park with the big and the small, the harmless and the deadly. Never took a venomous bite which I attribute to respecting them and not trying to use them to extend my ego. At one stage had 23 of my own at home. Have none now as I immigrated but would like some more soon.
Sorry no pics, lost them when my HP gave in (shitest laptop ever, three months out of warranty)
awesome..had no dealings with venomous personally.. i love bothrops and those gawjus green tree pit vipers... Fave venomous prolly has to be the mamba (black/green) and the taipan..awesome snakes... i saw a cool vid on utube of a mamba taking out a burrow of mice! A whole fuckin burrow! Killed everyone of em... and just ate them when it wanted after that...
The mamba's were always my favourite. It's like watching a shark feeding frenzy (without the blood) when feeding a bunch of them. We were feeding some green mamba's in a walk-in enclosure when the mouse falls from the tree and one of the guys I worked with picked it up and lightly tossed it passed the green mamba with a sarcastic "catch". And the damn thing caught it in mid-air

Whose mates? The cat's? Right now I'm picturing a Gaboon eating a cat while the cat's homeboys peer off into the distance as they admire a beautiful sunset.

I love Gaboon vipers, I'd love to keep one. But those fuckers are one of the few snakes that can strike backwards, sideways, etc. And they have the longest fangs in the world and deadly venom. Fuck that noise.

I would hate to get bit by a Gaboon viper , I think it would possibly be over if I didn't get medical attention in 30 mins . They do look bad ass though , but not worth it .

anyone here ever try to play with an argus monitor? god i love em so much, but they're meaner than shit, and SUPER smart.

you wouldn't think they would have such good aim with their tail, but turns out, they do!
:edit: sorry to derail this thread, i know it's a snake thread, but c'mon, them monitor's are sweet

Monitors are awesome . I used to have a big black throat and a baby water monitor . When I get stable in a couple of year I want to have a huge cage with a Crocodile monitor in there .

Oh god no! All reptiles are cool...just personally i love snakes... i had a monitor once many years ago....was like a dog....used to shake rats in its jaws and puff up and hiss through the holes in it's neck...it was a water monitor of sorts..forget the latin name... I personally love the Aussie goanna..think that is an awesome lizard or obviously the Komodo....

yeh don't think i could keep one of them feckers:) Fast and agile ain't the word...they defo have an intelligence higher than most snakes... Especially retics... Very curious they are and i am still amazed at how different they are from other snakes intelligence wise.....I got tagged 3 times today off my ball python... the bugger got into my gas fire and i had to get an engineer out to take the thing apart...Little bugger really showed me his strength...took a good hour of wrestling with him/her... Lost a good 5-10ml blood.. but i got him out unharmed bathed him cos he was filthy covered in dust... Thankfuck he never went up the lum which i'm sure he wanted to lol...little fucker had me sweatin like a rapist! God knows how i woulda coped with a retic or burm in there lol think it woulda been a 2 man job:)
