hi every one, wanted to share my latest grow. first i like to thank those who made this grow possible. mycelio show me how to make dry spawn and RR washing tek. also a member from another forum post a solar cooker idea but he never follow through, but it was his idea that got me started. on with the grow. this grow was completely free of any fossil fuel. the spawn was air dry. all the cooking was in the solar cooker. the block was fruited out door on top of my pond. hope everyone enjoy the pic.

Interesting John. How long did you pasteurize it for? I like that block. How big is it? what substrate? and how did you form it in that shape? Good Job!

Great job using no fossil fuels I'm very interested in the solar cookers..How hot do they get and how easy/hard were they to build? thanks for sharing!

is it possible to control the heat on those solar cookers? not only is this a great freaking idea for sterilization but using my oven kills my electric bill so i don't cook food in the oven. this would be sweet to use just for regular food since its tends to be mostly sunny where i live.
great grow and thanks for showing me that there is a such thing as a "solar cooker"

thank you everyone for the kind word.
sparkle i cook everything for 8 hour, my substrate is base on RR complex substrate. 24cups of wood chip 24cups of straw 10cups of coffee 10 tablespoon of gypsum 6cups of spawn. once they are cook the substrate is put in a recycle nursery basket(2) and line with recycle grocery store produce bag. after pinning i remove the top basket for easy picking.
madadi now that you mention it it does look like a satellite dish.
deadmandave my cooker get up to 300f and it was easy to built.
surreality you can some what control the temp. and yes you can cook most food using the solar cooker(solar oven). i have been using the solar cooker for about 7 year but just start using it to cook my mushroom last year. i think that the cooker is only pasteurizing not sterilizing.

do you have the link to how to build/use that thing, and can you post pictures of you pasteurizing on it? that is amazing. I would love to know more - live in the desert, that would be perfect for many applications!
Thanks!

vvitchdoctor the solar cooker i built was from a plan by beth & dan halacy. if you google solar cooker or solar oven there are alot of plans. i live in california and i am able to use my cooker all year round. your location would be even better.
this pic show the older cooker
here i am cooking my grain. newer cooker.
here i am cooking my rice, as you can see this one is well use.

no just a black pot with the right amount of water inside. the plate you see next to the pot is to absorb more heat.

i learn this method from mycelio. this is how i do it. after inoculating my substrate i leave about 15-20 grain in the jar. close the the lid let it recolonize then crack open the jar and leave it for about 1 month. after 1 month it is bone dry. i then put the dry spawn in a small jar and store it. the solar grow that you see is from a 1 year old dry spawn. this is my backup culture storage.
