nah I just got the code off idiot, but he had some infected mushroom thing in the background, so I just changed the pic over to this one. I find it makes it harder for people to read over your shoulder, too.

I see you're really into the custom style sheets now. There are a few users floating around with really cool layouts, but i forget who they are.
I figured the infected mushroom pic is on topic for this site.

Yeah I can definitely see how this skin would make it hard for eye's behind the shoulder.
So all I need to do to change the background is replce that deviantart link with whatever link I want?

basically just copy the above code into the custom style sheet in your account settings > display/number of topics shown settings.
If you want a different pic in the background just copy the URL for it and paste it over where I've got "http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs6/i/2005/070/6/5/Blue_Aztec_by_lured.jpg"
make sure you set the dropdown shroomery skin chooser to something like deluvian blue or green or something, then save your changes. in your browser hit 'refresh/clear cache' and hit refresh and voila you should have your own custom background.

I'm not too sure, play around with them and see if they work.... i know shroomery defualt doesn't work with it but not sure about the rest

this is awesome but why won't it let me swap out the picture by swapping out the image link? I don't know much about coding but can't i just leave everything else the same but change the link to the background image to customize it?
I tried and it stayed with the same myan image even though i changed the link

Write the css yourself, thats what I did.
This was several years ago but when I was having issues with my css I went back to the WAF thread that introduced me to this feature and ythan fixed it for me.
Basically look for a color picker online with rgba code and replace the appropriate section with whatever color you chose. The 0.8 at the end of the color code is the transparency and in this case means 80%. Ythan made the sites code fairly easy to understand so you should be able to finagle it pretty easily. You can even fuck with the margins and padding and any other html affected by css to make the site completely different.
