South Australia mate! I think quite a few Amanitas do grow here, I just haven't been fortunate to find/recognise many!

Found in a park in Eastern Victoria, Australia.
I'm no mycologist by any means but looks like Amanita Muscaria from what I can gather.
Please correct me If I am wrong...
Three specimens but I took a few pics to get used to the camera as I am no expert photographer either.
Feedback or any criticism on pics would be appreciated too...

I know this isn't the best photo for an ID, but I was just interested if any knows what type these are. We went on a hunt today and found so many looking like it.

Hey mate, I found very similar looking ones in SA, and they are apparently Amanita xanthocephala. Is there a ring under the cap? Apparently that's a good way to tell. But I'm very new to this myself so I could be wrong, just trying to help out!
I'm hoping to find some muscaria in SA this season!

Those are Amanita muscaria. You are in Australia or New Zealand, right?

They are not A. xanthocephala. That mushroom is smaller, more orange, and has no ring on the stem among other differences.

Ah thanks suchen! It's good to know, they are quite plentiful. Is there a reason apart from the poison they contain that people don't use them like they do subs?

Instead of potentially spreading any more misinformation, and to forestall others from doing the same, I point everyone to this thread by HerbBaker now. It is rather lengthy, but all of the information is there.

Yeah that's great information. "ancient tribal taboos are more potent than supposedly sophisticated modern academics realise..." suppose it spooked me too. Definitely going to have to try them at some point, thanks for pointing that thread out

Could be, or possibly Amanita gemmata. A lovely mushroom for sure.
