Most of the positive press you see with drugs (e.g. marijuana, psilocybin, etc.) are academic, investigational studies. Their design and setup are much different than the type of study that would be included for an actual drug approval (e.g. "established medical use").
It's a legal and regulatory definition, but an important one. A study demonstrating the positive effects of a drug, doesn't necessarily qualify for medical use.

There not really legal in most states. Check out through the state DOC website what the exact statutes are. You would be surprised at what you will find is legal/illegal.

Not really. The Analog act is vague and may or may/not cover some of the drugs listed depending on the judge and prosecutors. If this passes it would remove that uncertainty.

I disagree, the analog act is pretty cut and dry... The thing is it is the federal analog act. The feds arnt going to fuck around and prosecute someone buying a few grams or even a few ounces of these chems unless they know your selling them...
The state level analog acts are much more brutal and greyareaish... in my state the wording is all fucked up. Something like any nonfoodstuffs that is consumed with the intent of intoxication is illegal... Making all types of stuff against the law...

In the interest of informed consent, the customer should get every opportunity to know what he is getting and how it will perform.
If he has any tangible reason to expect that he has been cheated, the vendor should be charged accordingly.
I don't mind if other people do it, but can't recommend it, based (in part) on changes of formula. People are reporting wildly different results, some of which are less than satisfying, while others are disturbing, medical anomalies.

Jarrod Wyatt, a 26-year-old mixed martial arts fighter, is accused of brutally murdering his 21-year-old friend, Taylor Powell. According to the Times-Standard, prosecutors claim the pair took mushrooms along with two other friends in late March. The paper reports that witnesses say Powell and Wyatt "became preoccupied with the idea that a tidal wave was coming, that the end of the world was upon them and that a struggle between God and the devil was taking place."
When police arrived, they found Wyatt naked and covered in dried blood. According to an officer at the scene, Wyatt admitted to cutting out his victim's tongue and heart. Powell's corpse included an 18-inch incision on his chest, and Wyatt allegedly said he cooked the 21-year-old's heart in a wood stove to "stop the devil."
The accused killer faces murder charges in Del Norte County (Calif.) Superior Court. The Times-Standard has additional details on the charges.

This is somewhat off topic but I feel like it's important to remind you guys that stories like this are why shrooms are illegal, and other various drugs. You can't deny that people flip out and kill each other from time to time. My friend almost stuck her blowdryer in running water when we were tripping. People do stupid crap on drugs they can not handle. That is why drugs are illegal.
For the record I didn't trip with her again.

I take it for granted, that there are lots of things, which people can't handle, many of which are mundane by comparison.
It's a question of where and when you draw the line.
I can come up with excuses to micromanage, rather than sleep at night, but, for the sake my own sanity, draw the line at what affects me, personally.

dud, seriously, Because some martial arts jackass cant control his shit, I and others shouldn't be allowed to eat psychoactive mushrooms?
I cant imagine this martial arts person having any real discipline training. I got enough discipline, training, and understanding just watching Master Splinter on TMNT cartoons. I never had a martial arts class.
This legislation is bogus and shows that United States Congress is as always, the opposite of progress.
