 Anyone here ever say fuck school and take on something for a career or work?

I got an associates degree myself but at the moment don't really see myself going back to college. I don't know what I would do there and I feel like a lot of things can be better learnt in the real world than in college.
Also I have a few things going for me though I guess I'll admit nothing as comfortable as having a top paying job where you don't have to do too much from graduating years of college but still I feel like I'd rather take some time figure things out even with out the schooling system being a guide for me.

Tons of people don't go to school. The majority of my friends and family are in the trades and they make more then a lot of people that go to college. Trades means your gonna work real hard though if your not against physical labor it's great, but if your not gonna work hard I'd stick with school.

Do you have any work experience to go along with your AA? When I got my AA I had about 7 years of work experience, three in the field I currently work in. If you lived off your parent's money all those years I don't really know what advice to give ya.

Sales. Guitar lessons. Two main things I've done for work in the past few years. Guitar lessons I did myself, sales I'm doing for my cousins company sometimes.
I don't mind sales but I'd much rather something where I get a bigger share of the profits and maybe running my own business at the same time, maybe something trade related or something to do with music.

I said fuck school and am currently self employed with a few avenues of income streaming in. This way if one goes down I'm not left looking for work or money. Freedom is nice and waking up as your own boss is pretty damn nice too.
Here's a protip for the uninitiated: You can sell pretty much anything and people will buy it if you give it enough exposure. Case in point being the pet rock. It doesn't have to be complicated or cost a lot as long as it's marketable.

A lot of it depends on how smart you already are and I am not talking about book smarts. Many people have found great success after dropping out of school, but they were crafty and were able to figure out how to turn a small amount of money into a large amount of money. Others required and needed the education to get them where they wanted; doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc.
Keep in mind two things, A college degree can close almost as many doors as it opens. Some employers may not want to hire someone with a college degree because they do not want to pay a salary that a college graduate would want.
The second thing is paying back the loan. Unless you get a full scholarship or someone is will to float the bill for your education, getting a college degree (depending on what you want to major in) could cost more than a house, and in many cases at least as much as a new sports car. Yes, the interest rate is low, but it will still take you 15+ years to pay it all back. New college grads do not make a lot of money.
Whatever you do, stay the fuck away from Trade Schools. Most of them are scams that cost just as much as a 4 year degree but offer no college credits what so ever. And the "degree" you "earn"(buy) at one of these schools is not even worth the paper it is printed on. And the "Job Placement" they offer is laughable at best and a boldfaced lie at worst.

There's more to life, and college, than a job. Getting a 4-year degree grants you the opportunity to be exposed to things you would never get to see otherwise. That doesn't mean take out a fat loan for a pottery degree. Find an affordable college, get a worthwhile degree. It's only 2 years more, you have the rest of your life to work on your career.
