Wells Fargo Fees

I just found out that Wells Fargo is ramping up efforts to charge people $7 to maintain a checking account.
This is how it works, banks. I give you my money and it adds to your reserves so you can lend out many multiples of that amount to business owners, spend it on arbitraging the Mongolian stock exchange, blow it on cocaine and hookers, etc. And every time I use your debit cards to buy my 40's and spore syringes, you get like 15 cents and a fraction of the total cost. So while I've no idea how much it costs you to maintain those handful of electrons in a server somewhere that constitute my bank account (my guess is 73 cents) or how many pennies of electricity I waste every time I withdraw $60 in cash from your ATM to buy an eighth, I am pretty damn sure you make a profit off of me, even considering the 0.5% interest you pay me quarterly.
And you know what, even if my account holds less than the fifteen hundred or however many dollars you require to think of me as a person, consider the facts that (A) one day I might decide to stop tooling around on message boards and be a productive multi-millionaire member of society and won't you be sorry then and (B) your trillion-dollar castle of imaginary derivative money in the sky is built off of a foundation of real world companies making money off the little people like me, so if you tax my ability to be a functioning member of society then eventually I'm going to go all Fight Club (the movie version) on your ass and won't you be sorry then.

Fuck it, I'm going to a credit union, where at least they kiss you on the lips before they fuck you in the ass.

Find a local bank or credit union. It's the only way to go. Sheeple that use the big banks, deserve to get ripped off.

I fucking hate Wells Faggot. My checking account is with a credit union, but I have to maintain a savings account at WF. Every time I go there they beg me to open a checking account, and every time I have to politely explain that no, nothing you can say or offer will make me want to keep a checking account with your bank. Please let me get on with my day.

I'll take this opportunity to once again recommend Schwab Investor Checking. Don't get mad, just get a better bank account.

I just pulled all but $300 out of my checking at Bank of America yesterday. You should have seen the personal banker following me all the way outside practically begging me to keep my business with them.
Initially, I went to the teller and asked for all the cash in my accounts minus $300 in checking, he had to have his manager approve a withdrawal that large and his manager also said I would need to sit down with a "personal banker" because there might be some interest they need to calculate pay still(lolol). Of course there was none. The only interest I ever noticed earning on my savings was literally .01. Their interest rate is 0.05%, so by my math I should have been earning at least 25 cents(lol) annually on the amount I had in savings but whatever.
The personal banker asked all the reasons why I was going over to the credit union and I told her about how at BECU you earn 6% on the first $500 in checking and savings, $60 a year. Sure, not much but literally 600 times more than what I appeared to be accruing at BofA. Then she had the gall to try and calculate it and tell me it would only be $2.50 and I'm like where are you getting your math?
I also told her that the credit union approved me for a secured credit line(I'm trying to build a credit score after being a ghost on their radar in case I want to buy a home in a few years or so I don't have to buy my next car with cash) at whatever amount I wanted at 12% interest whereas all BofA had to offer was a $500 secured line at 19.9%. I also told her I'm leaving BofA because they don't do cash loans like the credit union does. She insisted they do cash loans, it's called a secured visa for $500 and I'm like, wow, are we sitting in the same room or what?
I also pointed out that a cashier's check is $10 versus $1 at the credit union. She was like "How often do you use cashier's checks?" as if that was in any way relevant. I also pointed out that the credit union is non-profit and she really had no response to that.
Her only real argument was that at Bank of America you can come in and talk to people and you can talk to the same people if something goes wrong. I then pointed out that BofA inadvertently cancelled my debit card in a complete blunder on their end a few months back and despite coming in and talking to one of their personal bankers it really wasn't handled very well at all and at one point when I followed up with the personal banker regarding the debit card situation he did not even respond and that's another reason I'm leaving. I also pointed out that I can go to the credit union across the street and there are always at least three people there at desks with the same hours as BofA and there is almost never a wait.
Shortly before leaving I also had to ask if there was any chance of incurring fees now on my checking with only $300 left and only then did she inform me that with a balance less than $1200 and without making a transfer of $25 or more into the account every month it would now start incurring a $12 monthly fee. I asked when that fee will be incurred so I can be sure to be completely done with them before that happens.
After all this is when she followed me all the way outside trying to convince me to stay with them. "If you go out of state there is Bank of America everywhere!" she says. I reminded her that all national credit unions are allied under the swirl and that I'm probably closer to a credit union than a BofA in any given location.

Had wells fargo, left cause of their bullshit fees. Charged me 15 bucks a month if I didnt have an automatic transfer of 75 bucks into my savings every month. So bullshit.
Went to a credit union. Free checks. Every atm I use is free, even if I use wells fargo. I get charged the fee, but then on the next business day, MY credit union uses their own money to pay that atm fee.
I FUCKING LOVE CREDIT UNIONS.

my sister had an account with BofA and all my cash was with a bank they took over, once BoA took over I went in to cash a check for $120k in a branch in chattanooga, I didnt even show the teller ID, she knew who I was without ever meeting me because she'd been issuing cashiers checks to me by mail for more than 15 years. she did ask me all kinds of questions about my family which verified my identity.
about a year later I'm in a BofA office in atlanta with a check for $10k that my sister wrote me, I went to cash it and they wanted to charge to cash it, ok, $3 out of $10k is nothing so I wont bitch, but then the teller is like 'we need confirmation on this check' and I'm like, OK so they get the signature card, and even though the hand writing and sig match they say they wont cash it, I said "call the account holder and verify the check" they started giving me the line of how they dont do that, I started getting loud about the fact that they arent cashing a check on their bank after verifying the check, verifying funds, etc and that they simply refuse to complete the transaction.... people were staring, I called my sister, told her what was happening and where I was, she was there in 15 minutes, started crawling the manager's ass and told them to close the account, $250k, the manager wanted to keep it open and she told him he had no say in the shit, told him he's got 10 minutes to have the paperwork and cash in hand or she's calling the home office and the police and having him arrested for fraud
I dont like banks, especially now. they all want to charge customers a fee for checks drawn on their banks in order to get you to open an account with them and because of that I'm making people that pay me draw cash and pay me that way. it's very rare that I take a check now

Yeah, and when they did the international withdrawal fee for former wachovia customers went up from the customary $2 or 2% charge to a $5 + 5% charge, which is 250% more than just about anywhere else. Sounds like a small complaint but when you're making $10 a day, that extra $3 is highway robbery...

man wells fargo sucks haha. I just read this story about a guy who had money accidentally deposited in his account and which sat for two weeks. Hes kind of a dumbass for spending it, but still, here was a guy who wasnt a criminal, and now is a criminal, because wells fargo doesnt know how to keep track of their money in the first place.
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/wells-fargo-accidentally-gave-guy-174935207.html
Police have arrested a 22-year-old Trevose, Pa. man and charged him with stealing more than $69,000 from his own bank account.
When Wells Fargo customer Joseph Bucci found a mysterious deposit for $69,300, he went on a shopping spree rather than reporting the error to the bank, according to Bensalem Police.
With the cash, Bucci allegedly racked up clothes, furniture, a new car and airline tickets on the bank's dime before cops finally caught up with him. At the time, there was about $2,000 left in his account.
Even though the deposit appeared to be the bank's fault, Bucci was still legally obligated to turn it over, much like Indian schoolteacher Parijat Saha.
When $8 billion turned up in Saha's account earlier this year, he followed his conscience all the way back to the bank where it came from—avoiding serious jail time in the process.
" Not only is this the right thing to do, but it is impossible for anyone to get away with it ," Odysseas Papadimitriou, CEO of credit card comparison site CardHub.com, told Business Insider.
"Sooner or later someone will wonder where the money went and at that point it will be trivial for the bank to figure out that you were the unintended recipient."
