 Do your put your social security number on Job Applications?

I personally refuse to. I got a call back on a job and they want me to fill out an online application with my information before my interview next week. One of the boxes asks for my SS, and ill be damned if im going to be sending that out to a company, especially unencrypted.

i always do, but only because it is required if you really want to get the job. the SSN was NEVER supposed to be used for identification purposes, but unfortunately this has become the status quo here in the states.

I always write "Will provide during interview" next to it. Most people understand that you dont wanna hand those numbers out.

I write "will provide upon request".
I've gotten multiple jobs doing that, hell I think it helps cause it shows the employer that you aren't a dumb twat that gives his SSN to randoms

I used to when I would apply for jobs when I was like 16, but not anymore.

This. If it's not a paper application I don't apply for the job.
With the exception of Wal-Mart because I got desperate.
Usually when I go in for the interview they don't need my SS number right away anyway, they just have me jot it down on the tax forms.
