They want to ban "bath salts," so they ban mephedrone, MDPV, and almost the entire 2C-series? Shouldn't they be going after the various substituted cathinones and pyrovalerones instead? When was 2C-I ever sold as "bath salts"? Do these people do any research at all?

They must be if they are banning 2C-h which is a precursor, not a drug.

Heroin has no medical use for the exact reason that it becomes morphine in the body: why use the analog when you can go straight to the source? And since nobody is allowed to prescribe a plant to treat an illness, marijuana is considered to have no use while Marinol is allowed.
While your argument may SEEM sound, I'm sorry to say I find it quite flawed. Have you ever TAKEN marinol? I have. And I can tell you, like many others will, that the CANNABIS PLANT is far more effective for the symptoms that marinol is prescribed to treat. Marinol was a let-down in every way, and I've spoken to others who feel the same.
And tell me exactly why, again, we aren't allowed to have plants prescribed as a treatment? Couldn't have anything to do with profit... that would be cynical and paranoid...right?
Back on topic: Does anyone know when this actually becomes law?

And don't forget that the FDA hasn't been around all that long, the issue of making a drug Schedule 1 than people wanting to keep studying it hasn't come up until recently (i.e. maintenance heroin, shrooms for cluster headaches, etc). The whole system is a bunch of stupid crap, it needs to be revised, but nobody wants to do the revising
Not all the time. Look at vyvnase. It's a prodrug for dextro-amphetamine.
Heroin is illegal due to racism and politics. It's used as a painkiller in many countries.

According to the Times-Standard, prosecutors claim the pair took mushrooms along with two other friends in late March. The paper reports that witnesses say Powell and Wyatt "became preoccupied with the idea that a tidal wave was coming, that the end of the world was upon them and that a struggle between God and the devil was taking place."
When police arrived, they found Wyatt naked and covered in dried blood. According to an officer at the scene, Wyatt admitted to cutting out his victim's tongue and heart. Powell's corpse included an 18-inch incision on his chest, and Wyatt allegedly said he cooked the 21-year-old's heart in a wood stove to "stop the devil."
The accused killer faces murder charges in Del Norte County (Calif.) Superior Court. The Times-Standard has additional details on the charges.

This is somewhat off topic but I feel like it's important to remind you guys that stories like this are why shrooms are illegal, and other various drugs. You can't deny that people flip out and kill each other from time to time. My friend almost stuck her blowdryer in running water when we were tripping. People do stupid crap on drugs they can not handle. That is why drugs are illegal.
For the record I didn't trip with her again.
Drugs are not illegal because they are dangerous. If they were alcohol would be illegal. I have seen people do more stupid dangerous things on booze then any other drug.

Booze is legal because Americans fought for it.
On another note, Marijuana will never be legal because pot smokers are pacifist. They aren't going to stand up and fight for legalization like people did for alcohol.

Ha, um no. Booze was legal in the US. Then the temperance movement claimed all societies problems were the result of alcohol and could be fixed if only we would ban the horrible substance. People believed them and prohibition was passed. Which saw a rise in both alcohol related deaths and crime due to prohibition and was finally repealed.
The criminalization of Marijuana has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with racism, it was the drug of choice by Mexicans in the 1920s and has been used as an excuse to imprison brown people. Today blacks are 40% of the prison population, most are there for Marijuana. Not too much has changed. Supporting drug criminalization is supporting racism.
