My friend and his girl came up to me a while ago and said they were getting married. I smiled at her and said congratulations!! Then looked at him and said get the Fuck out now you're making a huge mistake.

Marriage seems so silly. I mean if the couple 'breaks up' they just get a divorce. It's like a breakup that comes with some paperwork. And sure there are the vows, but most people in the throws of serious relationships say ridiculous things.
It's weird because on one hand people act like marriage is such a huge deal and it's a huge commitment, but it's really not, but if it's not, then what is the point? Why not just enjoy the relationship for as long as it naturally lasts?
It's like marriage is just some abstract concept people hype up in their heads.
I'm not hating or anything. Just seems weird, both the people who want it and the people who fear it.

I agree. It's just another pop culture dogma that everyone follows without question, as if there were only ONE WAY to have a relationship, kinda like how the Christians say there's only 1 way to have a relationship with god and that's through THERE way. You know?

i agree with what you say getting married is not really essential because we love each other and we dont need anything to validate that now we have chosen to get married for a few reasons one being she is still just a resident and this way she can become a citizen. we are not having anything crazy just signing papers and having family over at her moms house not getting dressed up or anything
