Look for some older tunes, the screechy stuff has only been around for a few years. The first half of fabriclive 37 is pretty good, it has the wub sounds but they weren't going too overboard with it at the time.

I dunno, for slower, heavier stuff I'd listen to the flip of PCP. It's called 'The President of Europe' and samples the clarinets from the main theme of the film 'Catch Me If You Can'.
I have a stagga single called "Wild For The Night". Based on that and "Be the Generals", I can't imagine him being slow/heavy

i like almost everything you guys have given me  these are pretty close to what i was looking for! i think what i rly wanted was some older stuff but i didn't realize it! i have some exploring to do now in the genre

I got recently reminded of this artist from a friend. Now, I'm told it's dubstep, but to me it sounds like some ambient offshoot of twostep. Who cares? I can groove to this and it's not at all cockteasing unlike most dubstep (or worse, the "filthy" dubstep that really does pride itself on sounding like shit)
