86 mile, 11 day backpacking trip in the Sierra's

I just got invited by my friend to do the whole high Sierra trail, from Crescent meadow in the Great Groves of Sequioas, 86 miles across the Great Western divide and Kern River Valley, and then to finish it all off we bag Mt. Whitney on the last day
11 days total, 7 hiking days, 4 layover days to just sit around and smoke weed while camping on some of the most gorgeous high mountain lakes in the States..
best part.. my friends mom is semi-loaded and is paying for all the food and she is dropping us off on the west side of the Sierra's and picking us up on the east side 11 days later. I'm talking 200-300$ in food and propane for an 11 day trip, all paid for.
Each one of us are going to have to carry our own 20 pounds of food for the week.
I need some suggestions of food. I'm ditching all the predried backpackers meals, they take up too much volume and are really expensive.
I was thinking make 3 or 4 different combinations of rice, dehydrated beans, spices etc. Then we would each bring 12-15 dehydrated eggs for protein. We would also bring dehydrated milk. Everyone would also have a few pound of GORP and granola. The hard part is sweets. how do we make sure we have sweets and enough sugar 10 days after we leave?? It's hard to imagine carrying all that food on our backs.
some pics of the route...

Wow talk about a truly epic journey! I know very little about what kind of food to bring besides the basic pre-dried backpacker stuff, so looking forward to suggestions to be made from other mems.

I am extremely jealous. Cous cous is great- protein and complex carbs. Better than pasta etc. If you do go for pasta and rice i'd recommend wholemeal for slower release of energy. Sugar probably isn't something to worry about too much. Well, what I mean is carbs are sugars really, just more complex, so they'll last longer. Sugar in it's simple form is good for quick bursts of energy (so maybe dried fruit in the mornings) but you're going to want things that will see you through. Dried meat is pretty good to chew on. Tinned fish is good- easy to prepare, nutritious- if you can take the weight. Nuts are excellent.

thanks, yeah our goal is to try and take a few giant bags of assorted grains (cous-cous, whole grain rice, no pasta, takes too much room) with different spices and stuff to mix in different combinations.
We need to find the balance between comfort and variety of food on the trail (food means basically everything while on the trail) and having a high density low weight bag

god damn i had to log in just to comment on how awesome that is going to be. congrats of having that just come to you.
food ideas: nuts(protein and maybe sweets aspect) any kind of jerkey if your into that. cracker stack. energy bars if you can fit one for every hiking day. maybe nutrient supplements if you don't think your going to be eating as much as normal to maintain a somewhat consistent energy level. i noticed you also didn't put water.
and dont forgot to bring some and maybe if its not too hot
have a most excellent time

thanks man! I'm so stoked. I should clarify it's for my friends 20th birthday. Oh man.. we are going to bring so much weed and hopefully some mushrooms for one of our lazy days on the lakes. My friend who is inviting us is not too fond of acid lately so we have to get some shrooms. If it was up to me we would be tripping 2-3x

about the water, it's everywhere and we have 2 purifiers so we should be set.

how bout some trail mix, if you have a dehydrator you can dehydrate your own meats for beef jerky, bannanas, strawberries apples, etc. (cut down cost of buying all that pre-packaged bullshit)
you can also bring along some brown sugar for oatmeal to take up for it as well or get the pre-mixed stuff.

No food suggestions because truthfully I don't know much about that, just figured I'd pop in and say I am fucking JEALOUS, should be a KICK ass time. Enjoy it man, wish I could do the same.

aww dried banana chips! great idea! They will be gone in a pinch but I love those things!
I wish I had a dehydrator, but since I don't, what is my post option for dried meat? I was going to bring tuna, not canned but someone else mentioned that make it wrapped in plastic or something? Idk but tuna would be good for some days. Should be just by lots of beef jerky? I feel like it might go to quick.. are there any types of good dried meats that we could toss into a rice dish and dehyrdrate?

My favorite power meal for the back-country consists of : Amy's mac n cheese Beef jerky egg to reconstitute the cheese powder dry wakeme or favorite seaweed for portable greens.
Hits all the good food groups & tastes way better than it sounds in combination.
Instant oatmeal keeps stove time down.
Sundrops or m&m's keep your chocolate from melting. Almonds are denser than other nuts for compact energy.
Just some of my stapels, they haven't let me down in all my miles..

if you know how to smoke meats its pretty much the same as a dehydrator.
you can smoke some tuna that will last, or smoke any meats and they wont go bad.
or if you are still worried about your sugar intake make sure to grab some powdered gatorade or powerade something of that sorts to keep your electrolyte level up. and you get that sugar bling as well.

ahh yeah this really just came up out of no where, I feel amazingly lucky to be able to go on this. We got our permit reservations in and the ranger said we were the first requests for permits he has for that trail during that time, which is extremely unusual considering it is one of the most popular trail in one of the most popular national parks. Anyways it looks like we don't have to worry about sharing the hotsprings and swimming wholes with boyscout troops

In 1995 this is the exact route I hiked!! It was my first time over Mt. Whitney then also. We had a friend drive us over and drop us off and then our wives picked us up in Lone Pine a week later. Only had a week off work so we hiked every day and did the trip in 7 days. We actually spent our last night on the summit of Mt. Whitney. It was an awesome trip! Hiking in the High Sierras is always epic. I am jealous of you for sure. You're gonna have an awesome time!
Here is me and my buddy on the summit of Whitney. This trip was in 1998.

Nice! I honestly can't imagine doing this in only 7 days, I always need about 40% of the trip to be layover day's for it to be considered a "vacation" in my opinion, but of course if work only permits a week than you got to do it a week. Do you have any specific little suggestions or little knickknack stories to share about the trail?
We got our permits in and they said they did not have even a single other request for the High Sierra Trail on or around that day. looks like we might have the place to ourselves (no boyscout troops = smoke weed everywhere), and we had a rather dry winter so the passes are already clearing.

The wilderness forks of the kern stretch we carry everything in and/or hire some pack mules to carry the rafts and coolers. Since the water is low this year due to the poor snowpack we'll be rafting mostly the lower kern below lake isabella where we do our two day trips. the brewery up here is amazing. definitely me if you have time to spare and you want to meet up.
