You really think that old people on their death bed wished they had worked harder their whole life so they could die with more money? Ridiculous.
Not everybody gets their value from life out of excess money. If you do, thats fine. In fact, I support it. You can live your lifestyle and pay those taxes to enable me to live my lifestyle.

I'm sure nobody dies with those thoughts in their mind.... but i'm sure a few people die wishing they had been in a better financial situation, either (a) to help their kids out, or (b) to ensure their kids don't have to shell out thusands of dollars just to have "proper" (put in quotes becuase proper is deemed so by social norms which are not a true requirement) burial and casket and shit like that.

If a couple thousand is all that matters between dying with or without regret then I am already set. I sure dont plan on giving my kids money after they are adults and I doubt they will have to pay anything when I die.
Perfect timing would be to have my cremation paid for and spend my last penny just before my last breath. I suspect I will die with a little cash though, but no nest egg - thats for sure.

You know how many people tried to pull that off? Lots of them and most lived the last half of their lives broke and miserable. You are so worried about leaving anything behind that you wont have anything while you are here.

you're making a major assumption that he/she even plans to have or already has kids
