It's a video with many many pictures, and each picture is associated with a particular sound.

STROMATOLITES

Stromatolites are cultures of coexisting microorganisma existing in shallow waters, basically microbial societies of mostly cyanobacteria.
Stromatolites exist on planet earth for 3.5 billion years, anjd for the first 3 billion years of that they were the only game in town. No animals or plants, 3 billion years of the sun, the wind, and the eternal tides flowing around stromatolites chilling in the shallow waters.
Stromatolites turned the atmosphere from CO2 based to Oxygen based, and paved the way for all life on earth to thrive. We owe our lives to these lumps of sand and biomass, and if we ever visit alien worlds, chances are stromatolites will be the first alien life we'll find.
They were our primary macroscopic colonizers.

Climbing route called Quivering Quill, on the dark side of Turkey Tail. Technical rating of 5.10+, which is not all that hard by sport climbing standards. But it's overhanging the whole way, and stopping to place much protection means you'll blow yourself out and fail.
What blows my mind about this particular pic is that the guy is climbing it in winter. The rock inside that crack has to be frigid, and there's likely ice inside it.

3-Methylfentanyl

3-MF is a highly potent synthetic opiate with a duration of action of approximately 3 hours. Remarkably, one gram of the powder is as potent as 1kg of pure heroin, or 5 lbs of very potent street heroin, representing a hundred thousand strongly intoxicating doses. One sugar cube's worth of the stuff represents the narcotic power of a bucket full of high grade heroin.
If a dedicated illicit lab would produce 100 kilos of 3-MF, something not beyond the reach of an illicit lab, they would produce as much narcotic doses as the entire Opium harvest of Afghanistan.

went for a long hike one evening. this butterfly landed on my chest and stuck with me long enough for us to become friends, it flew away and kissed me on the lips on its way off… they truly are remarkable aerobatic dancers. it is a special picture because of the events that led to the event and the timing of it in my life.. ^_^

i passed this butterfly while walking on the trail. after passing it something within me urged me to go back and pick up that butterfly.. i thought to myself that it would fly away, but i went back anyway and was struck with joy when it came right onto my hand. we bonded for a bit before it flew away.. found out it is a Pipevine Swallowtail (Battus Philenor) and a female because of the white markings.. <8

obligatory Pale Blue Dot post...
yeah that's earth. For some insight, I present the late, great Carl Sagan.
Quote:
In 1989 both Voyager spacecraft had passed Neptune and Pluto. Carl Sagan wanted one last picture of Earth from "a hundred thousand times" as far away than the famous shots of Earth taken by astronauts from the moon during the Apollo series.
The result is stunning. In Sagan's words, "Because of the reflection of sunlight off the spacecraft, the Earth seems to be sitting in a beam of light, as if there were some special significance to this small world. But it's just an accident of geometry and optics. The Sun emits its radiation equitably in all directions. Had the picture been taken a little earlier or a little later there would have been no sunbeam highlighting the Earth.
"Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there - on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
"The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors, so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.
"Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.
"The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand."
- From his book, Pale blue dot.

Our Milky Way galaxy contains a minimum of 100 billion planets according to a detailed statistical study based on the detection of three extrasolar planets by an observational technique called microlensing.
Kailash Sahu, of the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Md., is part of an international team reporting today that our galaxy contains a minimum of one planet for every star on average. This means that there is likely to be a minimum of 1,500 planets within just 50 light-years of Earth.
The results are based on observations taken over six years by the PLANET (Probing Lensing Anomalies NETwork) collaboration, which Sahu co-founded in 1995. The study concludes that there are far more Earth-sized planets than bloated Jupiter-sized worlds. This is based on calibrating a planetary mass function that shows the number of planets increases for lower mass worlds. A rough estimate from this survey would point to the existence of more than 10 billion terrestrial planets across our galaxy.

Shit always blows my head to think about. And that's just in our galaxy alone. Not to mention all the other (literally) countless galaxies there are in this universe, which is also EXPANDING constantly at a rate of about 86 kilometers PER SECOND (source is my astronomy textbook). I fucking love love love love love space. PLUS, add to all of that the theory of the multiverse and your mind literally explodes. Boggles my mind.
My pic:
Do I need to explain it? The cosmos is fucking incredible.

The mere fact that it exists blows my mind, I cant wrap my head around how it managed to form such a perfect halo. I've always wondered what type of life resides their whenever I look at this picture. If that aint enough of a mind fuck you can see another ring galaxy in the background
