Orange mushrooms on rotting log? Need ID?
    #16258779 - 05/20/12 03:39 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

Habitat:
It was in the middle of the woods, growing on a piece of rotted log. There were 5 growing, 3 of them very close to eachother, and the other 2 on seperated. The seperated 2 looked younger. By the way it's been raining a lot lately, so the log was pretty moist. This is in Minnesota.

Gills:
It's basically the same color as the cap, bright orange. They look like they've been kind of torn. There's a lot of them though, all pretty thin.

Stem:
Probably a 1 1/2 - 2 centimeters. It takes the same color as the rotting log, a brown. Towards the root part it's a little brighter. Its thin, but not extremely thin. It's kind of squishy, too.

Cap:
The younger ones have a much smaller cap, but on the older ones it's about the size of a quarter. It's orange, and the caps of the older ones look flatter, and on the sides look torn. The tip of the cap sticks out a little too. They're pretty smooth.

Spore print color:
I just finished it, and it looked like a pale brown color.

Bruising:
I didnt see any bruises.

Other information:
They leave an odor pretty much the same of store bought mushrooms. The older ones kind of smell sweet.
