Say u like music more than anything else, what are the odds with some persistance you can A) start a band if you know people who want to do it or B) search online and find different bands to play in on ether bass or guitar.
What do u think?
Personally I don't see why it wouldn't be possible but at the same time it is also said that most bands don't make it, but say were speaking from a place of you wouldn't be playing in whatever band if it didn't really sound legit like something u'd listen to, etc.

Isn't the whole point of being a musician to have unlimited cheap drugs and get laid a lot...
Even if you don't make it people will know you're cool and you'll get some offers...

that could be part of it. i dont do alot of deugs but def u can find as a musician. also def could get more offers from doing music, etc.
To say the truth though, thinking about it the odds of making money playing music are probably 1/10,000 or something.
I guess it will always make a good hobby or focus on the side even if it is never a serious thing as in a career, or at least be approached that way but in free time from working.
Just saw this article tho that got me thinkin too - http://www.stevepavlina.com/blog/2006/07/10-reasons-you-should-never-get-a-job/

from experience the hard part is actually putting a band together that has the talent and similar enough personalities.
And then finding the time to practice, and actually staying together for more than a week lol.
Just become amazing at your instrument, and then you can walk onto any band that has an opening.

OP there are many things a musician can do. you could always do stuff for more commercial jingles, studio stand ins, big band shit. i could go on. my uncle actually plays bass and does some commercial music. it pays alright, he doesnt have a benz or anything but he lives comfy for sure.
oh and if you join a band. dont sell out. try making your own record by paying for it yourself.
radiohead has been on their own label for the last 2 albums now. they sell less albums but they make WAY more money then they did when they were on a corporate label. just sayin if your in it for money.
keep playin music man. music=soul

I do this. Just remember that there's a big difference between a working musician and those puppets you see on TV.

For you Skatealex, the answer is no.
Unfortunately, the bottom line is that you're lazy, and this is probably due to constantly smoking weed. For the past year, every thread you post is inquiring about music, or asking other people "what's a good business".
To make it in music, you're probably have to set the pot down for a while and bust ass. If this was your plan, you'd have done it by now, instead of just posting about it.

Meh, fortunately people on the internet don't control my life. There's reason I've been less active the past year or two, still things are happening.
