You can germinate succulents the same way as cacti. I use a mix of vermiculite, coir and fine grained sand, sprinkle the seeds on top and add a tiny bit of sand on them, not even covering them completely.

Try one of the cactus germination teks on this site or on mycotopia, they'll work awesome.

They are very easy.  Grow a lot faster than cacti and the seed is supposed to actually gain viability with age (within a limit, ofc).

The growing information on the site of WSS is very helpful: http://www.worldseedsupply.org/proddetail.php?prod=kanS010

Quote:

Sceletium seeds contain germination inhibitors. This is actually a common defense for many plant species because it causes staggered germination, which has various survival benefits in the wild. The inhibitor is soluble in water. So the first step is to remove it, either by an extended soak (up to a few weeks) while remembering to change the water daily or by rinsing the seeds thoroughly under running water. Using the extended soak method, seeds may germinate during the soaking process. As with all cultivation, distilled or bottled water is always better than tap water. Gibberrelic acid treatment will also counteract the effects of the inhibitors and cause quicker, more even germination than any other method. After removing the germination inhibitors, some growers also recommend scarifying the seeds by putting them in a bag of sterile sand and shaking them so that the sand wears down the seed coat. Seeds should then be sown on top of a sterile, sandy soil mixture. Addition of a fungicide is beneficial. Cover the pot with clear plastic to keep in humidity. Optimal germination temperature is about 60-65 degrees Fahrenheit, although some growers prefer temperature fluctuations between day and night. Seeds will do best when placed close to fluorescent lights. Typical germination time is anywhere from two weeks to two months.

I'm also planning to grow Sceletium tortuosum soon!

Nah, it's cool. Most xeric plants have them, including Lophs. That's one reason why it takes a few days for them to pop up after putting them in the bag.

Maybe Leponumos grows big, sexiful plants, but I never have a lot of luck it seems. My Delosperma bosseranum plants shrinkled and died during the winter. Hope I can figure how to keep them alive next time.

I also got some new Delosperma seed so I can compare the growth rates of both. Now I only need to wait for the Sceletium seeds to arrive.. Btw, I mostly read Sceletium tortuosum prefers indirect sunlight, though I read they will grow much faster in direct sunlight. It's stated in an amazing growlog at another board, no idea if I may post a link?

This is the most amazing Sceletium tortuosum growlog I've ever seen. He also has a Delosperma bosseranum growlog which is equally amazing!
