Is this myc in my LC? (pics)

Hey, i posted about my LC's here the other day. Today I checked in on them and 3/5 are still exactly the same. One might possibly be showing growth but its hard to tell and I'm gonna give it a few more days. The last one seemed to not show much but it looked like there was a cloudy layer on the bottom. When i stirred the jar around it appeared that the cloudy layer was actually either myc or a contaminant that looked boogerish in consistency and when stirred around more broke up. I have 3 pics to show.

Hard to really say anything looking at a jar of LC. Some general rules apply if you can see it in person.
First, 7-14 days to see growth from spores on any medium. LC can start cloudy and turn clear as the myc eats nutrients, that's normal. But LC that starts clear and turns cloudy has bacterial contamination. Different types of fungi grow differently in LC, generally Ps. cubensis will settle to the bottom. So if it turns cloudy or has fluffy floating myc on the surface, probably bad.
But LC sucks anyway. Get into agar work, it's way cheaper and easier than it looks.

I know agar is superior, but as of now I don't have the supplies for agar and won't be able to get them for a little while. And since I already have these LC jars knocked up I'd like to see if they're salvageable.
From what I can tell I think the above jar is contaminated with bacteria.
These are pictures from the other jar that I mentioned that seemed to show some sort of growth. Is this myc developing or something else? The water is clear and the growth blobs seem to be white, as in my other jars all of the blobs of sediment are yellowish and have been there since I took them out of the PC. Another question I have is in regards to gas exchange. In all of my LC jars I put 2 pieces of tyvek on the lids, one on the underside and one on the top. Is this preventing gas exchange? I just took the top layer off of this jar and another jar that didn't show any growth to see if any changes result.

Agar work is a lot cheaper and easier than it looks once you get going. And since it works every time, you save a huge amount of time too.

i to never have used agar, but to give you another option to test you lc you could use brf as a substitute to at least test it b4 wasting a bunch of grain jars
http://www.shroomery.org/8514/Agar-substitute
i always test b4 shooting 32 quart jars of grain

This one looks pretty good.
The other one might be fine too. Sometimes they go puffy, sometimes long and strandy.
Doc doesn't like LCs. I like 'em. I use agar wedges *in* LCs!

Agar into LC, I'll give that two thumbs up. But for the same amount of sterility I'd rather do GLC. But spores into Lc is just asking for trouble most of the time. Sometimes it works, though, and I agree those pics look like they might be ok.

Do you think it'd be fine to knock up a test jar from the 2nd LC jar now? or should I wait until it looks like theres more mycelium.

yeah, not enough there yet, really. Technically, any amount of mycelium can be used to start something off, but you really should build up a little more mass there to get nice syringes-full, so you're not inoculating a bunch of plain water.

Good news. Finally noticed some growth on some of the grain jars noc'd up with MS Cambodian syringes on 5/13. Only a very small amount of growth is noticeable but it definitely looks like myc to me.
Also, if I only end up with 1 quart of spawn, what is the best method to get the greatest yield. Casing in a tray and fruiting in a SGFC or spawning to bulk in a monobucket (I was planning on using mono buckets instead of mini mono tubs because i already have some buckets lying around)

A quart jar is a lot of spawn. If it's healthy you could do Grain LC with it and then these LC jars would be less of an issue. You could still spawn it, or you could use it for grain to grain transfer too.
But really, spawning it will work out just fine.
