that's definitely a flower. let it mature and open. the scent is like pine trees but sage, which is stange because the leaves can have two very distinct smells, one being of fresh ripe green apples and the other being an almost toxic smell that i can only descibe as acrid. this is the smell that lingers on your hands after harvesting for hours. i never really figured out why the smells change, but the same plant can change back and forth. this never seemed to an effect on potency, but i was always super sensitive to salvia leaf.

It's that time of the year in the Southern Hemisphere. They flower at the end of fall/beginning of winter depending on your exact location.

Is there a macro setting on your camera? Or just take a step back then crop the picture, or hold a piece of black material behind the flowers.
It is setting the focus to the bricks patio/ bottom leaves. Nearly 2 feet back.

Does anyone here have a plant grown from seed? I have a bunch of plants but have never seen a flower. I want to name a strain after myself!

If you do, it'll probably look exactly like Blosser and Wasson. They rarely have any morphological variation from their parents. The only exception to this was 'Luna.' Look at this tray of seedlings,

Sweet racemes!
Developing a new strain would require the pollen of a genetically distinct individual. Or a mutation of some kind. If all you have are genetically identical clones, you could go all mad scientist and try applying a mutagen to the embryos...

You made me go back and do some searching to make sure I wasn't imagining things, but like I thought Luna is more likely a sport than a seedling.
From Siebert's Page [which we can't link to due to the commercial nature of his site]:
Quote:
Luna (syn. DS9401L) This is an unusual clone that I discovered growing in a patch of the "Wasson/Hofmann" clone. It is either a sport of the "Wasson/Hofmann" clone that sprung up from the base of the surrounding plants, or it may have originated from a seed that fell from the neighboring plants. Given that it is extremely rare for Salvia divinorum to produce viable seeds and that any seedlings produced tend to be very weak, it is most likely that this is actually a sport, possibly some type of polyploid. The leaf morphology is distinctive. The margin is more deeply serrated and the leaf is more roundish than ovate. Go here to see a picture of Luna.

Fuck that's awesome dude, my Salvia's are at about the exact same stage of flowering as yours! Only maybe 1-2 days behind, I'm so excited haha, I've got flowering on 3 of my mature plants, I'm gonna take some pics soon.
What country you in? I'm guessing you're either in NZ or Aus if they're flowering now

nice plant, i'm really bummed they made salvia illegal in my state.
i tried it like four years ago before they banned it but i was naive and did it with my friends without really knowing what to expect (we had just "heard" about it and bought some from a headshop).
the experience was crazy nonetheless, but i never got a chance to use it in a better trip setting. i'd love to hit some salvia in a dark, silent room but now it's impossible for me to obtain.
