Mushrooms... and how they make the city sleep

I woke up on a crisp, early spring day. It was a day like any other... no plans, just listening to some tunes in my empty apartment. Little did I know two of my roommates were on the other side of town getting their hands on some mushrooms.
The bags were sitting in front of me, now early afternoon, requiring no effort on my part. For some reason, things have a way of finding me, and the mushrooms found a nice spot to stay in my stomach.
Ejay was psyched as ever and Ty, the crazy South African kid, had stars in his eyes... both jumping around like excited kids. I could feel the mushrooms making their way up my legs. We wouldn't be in our flat for long... Ty would get a rush of euphoria and go off:
"We need to meet EVERYONE today! On the street, we need to make as MANY friends as possible" with the nodding puppy dog Ejay jumping on board to the idea. My passiveness lead me down the stairs with them, figuring I would detach from them in a short while and stroll through the city myself. My new headphones were dying to scream into my ears, maximum volume, penetrating my brain. That time would come.... so I thought.
"Fuck it's already dark out here and I'm cold as hell" Yes Ty, maybe you should've worn a jacket. Yet at this point, my clothes were feeling like hands caressing me all over. I could understand the primal urge to strip free and run on all fours through traffic, but my head was securely screwed on at this point.
We cross the street as darkness creeps it's way over the streets. It is dark though, very dark.... not just a "mushroom-induced-visual-misinterpretation of the shadows" kind of dark. Then I noticed it...
"Dude how are we gonna cross the street when the walk light is out?" Ejay laughed.
No lights... anywhere. The car horns screeched all around me. Mobs of people yelling at cars as they crossed the streets. "WE HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY" What the fuck is going on here? Everyone seems more excited than I am... I can feel a sense that shit is slowly hitting the fan and it's only a matter of time before I feel it on my face.
Lights out
Everywhere, darkness.
"What's going on Ty?"
Sirens replacing conversations on the streets now, my thoughts attempting to put the clues together, gathering information, talking to strangers.
"It's been blown up!" "The generator" "Something exploded downtown" "Electricity is out" "Fires, smoke"
Texts arrive now, though I am unable to decipher the water goop of words that are dripping off of my phone.
"DUDE it's like the apocalypse!" The three of us are laughing our asses off. We are in a small, dim lit hallway. Ty, the leader of our pack, brought us into a lobby of an apartment complex. We stumble in and huddle up in a corner, all of us shining our lighters.
Children were playing on the walls, the shadows swirled like smoke. I can't tell if the haze is smoke or the still moonlight cast down upon the dark city. I am in a movie now, and this IS the apocalypse.
I am tripping mushrooms... on this day... this particular day... that the city decides to turn the lights off.
In a park now, laying on the steps by a large memorial statue of some war hero. He nods at me, his garments swaying in the wind. A joint is procured, A joint disappears.
Others are around. It is late now, but others seem to be doing the same thing. Sitting in the park, in groups... is everyone else tripping too?
At this point information solidifies. A generator exploded downtown, smoke clawing its way through parts of the city. Electricity gone. Our legs managed to flop themselves back to our house. Expecting darkness, we found light, nutrients, and friends. We attempted to explain the apocalypse, how we had to stick out in shelter using the only light we had to keep our sanity as everything melted around us.
There was a strange feeling that night, not just the chemicals introduced to my brain, but a general sense of chaos and pandemonium, though short lived, that thrived throughout the wandering street travelers.
I will remember that night... the night I decided to take mushrooms and the city happened to turn the lights off.

Thank you! Looking back, I just think it is crazy that of all days to randomly come in possession of mushrooms, the whole city turns into pandemonium

Love reading this story!
I feel like I was actually there with you three. You have a knack for capturing the essence of tripping through story-telling. Please give us more!

Very well written man!... That sounds like a quite magical urban night of adventures.
Though I would now like to educate you about the apocalypse. There are 2 definition of this, which one is ultimately correct I guess is up to each his own.
I prefer this one, as it links in a uncanny way into what is happening now around the 2012 "awakening" that has been going on for years now. Just getting bigger every year.
An apocalypse: "(Greek: ἀποκάλυψις apokálypsis; "lifting of the veil" or "revelation") is a disclosure of something hidden from the majority of mankind in an era dominated by falsehood and misconception, i.e. the veil to be lifted."
Apocalypse now baby. People are waking up. So IMo the term you should have used would be Armageddon or something.

Do you mind if I take you up on that offer in your "sig"? I m looking for a copy of the "Finsta Bundy - Neva Say Never" tape (cassette) from '99. Its fairly rare. Whats your "source"? Torrentsite?
