You and your parents' taste in music

Are they significantly different, or do they pretty much follow the same line?
If it's different, let's hear the difference. What do you like/What do they like? Also, do you guys talk shit to each other about each other's music?

I fucking hate my mom's music.
Like, 70's and 80's rock bands.
It's horrible. Maybe I hate it because I used to work at the same job as my mom, and that's all they would play, and i grew to despise it because it reminded me of work.
But i hate 70's and 80's rock bands anyway. Shit's ghey

To some extent I can understand the 80s, but the 70s, seriously? That's just crazy.
My dad likes Led Zeppelin. My mom pretty much exclusively listens to classical. Neither of them are really into music that much though. I like both of those genres but electronic and ambient stuff is my favorite, a far cry from my parents' picks.

My mom likes the current hits, and country music. When I would be in the car with her as a little kid and she would put on country music I'd complain and tell her to put it on the rock station.
My dad likes rock, and the hits as well but is alittle more selective with the modern music he likes. When he was younger in his 20's and would drive around with me in the car he'd listen to 90's rock that was current at the time (Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, STP) and I fucking loved it. Both my parents like the 80's hits and I like some of that as well.
I listen to pretty much everything except country and dubstep, I guess what I listen to most is electronic music.

Mom likes Led Zeppelin and Melissa Etheridge
Dad is a Jimi Hendrix and Iron Maiden jean jacket in the 70s guy
I like Dylan, Beatles, Neil Young, most weird experimental noise rock, punk and acoustic roots type music but when I was kid I listened to rap and top 40. Never got into electronic music...... I think I'm taking the wrong drugs.

My dad is into all the typical classic rock: Zeppelin, Cream, Stones, The Who, Neil Young, etc.
He raised me on all that stuff and I love most of it. I would have to say that even though I'm in my late twenties and he's in his late fifties, that at this point I'm probably familiar with more bands from his own era than even he is. I always thought that my dad was a music buff when I was younger, but the older I get the more I question this. There are constantly bands I come across from the 60's and 70's, more obscure bands, that he never knew existed.
I also listen to tons of stuff from more recent decades, and have tried to turn him on to these things. I've had him sample some Built To Spill, Yo La Tengo, Pavement, and all kinds of other more modern bands. He always comments about how it's "OK, but not great". I think it's mostly a generational thing...he needs a bitchin' guitar solo in the song or something. It's kinda frustrating. He DOES like the Black Keys though, which figures since they have that throwback bluesy feel to their rock.

Mom likes anything popular Dad likes... I dont' know. Used to love punk and LedZep but in his older years lost all his coolness and any appreciation for music.
I listen to just about anything between 1967 and 1973. Also some 80's (thrash metal/hardcore punk) and some nineties (grunge/rock)

My parents both like classic rock/heavy metal type stuff from the late 70's to the early 90's like Def Leppard, Ozzy, Dio, Led Zepplin, Dokken, Queensryche, Skid Row, Metallica, Motley Crue, Poison, and many many many more. All of that type of stuff. I did like that stuff for a good 7 - 8 years and I still like a lot of it, but I've moved on. I'm into alot of electronic and rap. Electronic would go along the lines of Infected Mushroom!!!! <3 <3 <3 Also 1200 Mics, Skrillex, Bassnector, DeadMau5, etc. dubstep and trance. Rap would be like Eminem, D12, Macklemore, Slaughterhouse, Horseshoe G.A.N.G. I like alot of shit that actually has meaning, and substance (difficult rhyme schemes, etc.).

dad is into classic rock but he was born in 1940 so he is also into a lot of Chuck Berry and stuff from 40'5 and 50's, sometimes earlier. I am very much into "classic rock" but I don't really listen to stuff from before 1960

I like all the music my mum likes, whether it's because I grew up listening to her taste in music or because it's somehow genetic I don't know. Although she doesn't like a lot of the music I like (sabbath, CCR, hendrix etc). Maybe she would if she got used to it?

My musical taste is pretty eclectic. Jazz, Blues, classic rock, some thrash metal, death metal, folk music, indie, a bit of (usually older but SOME new) country, and classical, drum and bass, instrumentals of all sorts, and a bit of rap to top it all off
Mommy- Classic rock- mostly 80's
Dad- Country music. Literally all he listens to. They didn't have much back in 1939 when he was born...and he spent most of his first 20 years in a backcountry town in Illinois that didn't allow black people in town past 9pm until 1976...I've tried getting him to listen to newer stuff but nothing's worked...yet...
-------------------- Men are born for games. Nothing else. Every child knows that play is nobler than work. He knows too that the worth or merit of a game is not inherent in the game itself but rather in the value of that which is put at hazard. Games of chance require a wager to have meaning at all. Games of sport involve the skill and strength of the opponents and the humiliation of defeat and the pride of victory are in themselves sufficient stake because they inhere in the worth of the principals and define them. But trial of chance or trial of worth all games aspire to the condition of war for here that which is wagered swallows up game, player, all. - The Judge

My mom doesn't listen to too much music. My dad likes a lot of blues, dylan, the dead, etc.
We went to a few Dylan, Gov't Mule, and Allman brothers shows together too. Was pretty cool.

My dad listens to Irish music 90 percent of the time, and so do I. Some of the other stuff I listen to is not stuff he would like though, old rap and stuff like that. My mom doesn't listen to music that much but I guess she likes stuff along the lines of Simon and Garfunkel, not my favorite but I like some of it.

My dad has influenced my taste in music greatly. I grew up with him listening to a lot of folk, blues, americana, and stuff from the 60s and 70s like Sabbath, Floyd, King Crimson, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Muddy Waters, Captain Beyond, and others similar to those. I've of course branched out and am a huge reggae fan, which he seems to enjoy greatly. The only thing he doesn't really like is hip-hop/rap and new age country that is basically twing twang rock. My dad and I can jam and enjoy mostly any music that either him or I bring up.
My mom just listens to classic rock radio that is pretty boring.

I'd always listened to what my dad listens to when I was younger..Beatles, Neil Young, Traveling Wilburys, Dylan, etc. I don't really know what my mom likes..it's probably been a long time since she has listened to music she wants to listen to. All I remember when I would be trying to blare music in the car is her asking why can't we just have some peace and quiet. I do remember he saying the first album she bought was Diana Ross and the Supremes.
I still listen to what my dad listens to and have showed him the APC cover of Imagine when I got my first Ipod mini. I think he was just more impressed by the sound coming out of the device than the song though. Old folk.
