looking for user experiences...
if a person starts snorting speed at the age of 15-16 and does week-long benders on and off for a few years what effects would it have on the mind and body?

You'll end up shot out, slow, weak, and either overly emotional or emotionless. Stop now before it is too late.

You'll also probably gain weight. And it's no good for your heart.

I got hooked when I was 18. I used daily for over a year. I suffered from acute amphetamine psychosis. I was six foot two and a hundred and forty pounds. I looked like a skeleton so I wore baggy clothes to hide it. It's bad news bears bro. It's not a lifestyle I'd recommend.

Well I can tell you first hand, you'll stop eating. Even when you don't use? You won't eat. You won't fuxkig sleep for days. You'll get sick, end up passing out somewhere from heart problems and realizing that you need to turn your life the fuck around. You'll have crazy emotions, wanting to cry for no reason, you start to go crazy.

Adding to the whole: amphetamines give your dopamine receptors a mighty jolt. With particularly methamphetamine, serotonin receptors also come into play.
Heavy, binge and prolonged use of amphetamines can destroy the number of DA and 5-HT receptors. In case of Dopamine you'll find that your drive and motivation is more and more lacking, as well the pleasure you feel from for instance a tasty meal, cumming or the carress of your GF. With Serotonin, you will get unstable moods and depression.
Some of this grows back, but if you used heavily for years, not all of it will fully return and it will take YEARS to get to the maximum functional level, just like with people who had a stroke.
And yes its shit for your heart, your kidneys, your teeth, your skin and your apparent age.

What about therapeutic and medical doses, as in 10-40mg of aderall a day. Would this cause any harmful effects long term?

I don't have the data but I think so yes. Many medicinal amphetamine users after many years often feel hollowed out mentally. Question remaining of course is, is it reversible?
My guess is no. Any drug that is psychoactive that I have studied will, if taken daily for years, alter not just the mind but also the structure of the brain. Your brain grows to accommodate a life with daily speed/weed/LSD/coffee/steroids/benzos etc etc etc.

That's the kind of question you don't really need an answer to.
I'm sure you already know that it'll have several negative effects. That alone should prevent you from doing it (or your ''friend'').
Just don't do it and you won't need to worry about the details of it.

I was prescribed Adderall 20MG XR for like 8 or 9 years in a 10 year span. I took it 5-6 days a week for about 2 years, was off of it for a year or two, then on from the beginning of my jr year of high school until the first semester of my senior year of college 3-5 days a week. I feel like there has been some lasting problems since quitting over a year ago. My emotions are all finally back, for better or for worse though, I am more in touch with my feelings than I was. I feel less happy and focused than I remember being on adderall, but that is the result of doctors over prescribing drugs, and me not being wise enough to think "hmmmm maybe amphetamines everyday is bad". I may try ayahuasca though since I read that it can help aid in neurogenesis, and that would be nice.

10-40 mg Adderall or Vyvanse every now and then is ok right?

It's not negligible by any means but you're better off than a shitload of people out there if that's all the stimulants you take.

lol no way dude.
I've been taking 60mg vyvanse a couple times a week for a few years and haven't really noticed any issues. Maybe I am frying myself but I don't think so. Most tweakers take hundreds of milligrams of meth when they use and stay up for days at a time, that's why they get so fried out.
