 Did I mess up my grains?

I made grains per the RR tek only I used coffee cause I'm doing PS. Mexicana-A.
I did about 2.5 pots of reg strength (I drink it fairly strong) coffee to about the same of water.
Rinse - 23hrs soak - Simmer for 10min. - PC for 90 min. - MS-used about 1cc per jar except about .5 on the 1/2 pint. - did NOT shoot towards glass but in the center.
The tek calls for 1 strong pot to 2 gal. of water. Don't have the slightest clue how I deviated that night, but I did.
I have no germination after 7 days. I know it can take longer, but does it usually take longer than a week? I did 8 jars and 1 1/2 pint for LC and I don't even have germination on the small jar.
The grains look dry to me but I never did them before so what the hell do I know.

7-14 days to see growth from spores.
LC from spores is a fool's errand. Get into agar work.
in the time you're been waiting, you already could have dishes going.

The 1/2 pint has grains to do GLC like you suggested.

GLC is better than spore LC.
But if you're starting the jar with spores, it's not necessarily as clean as it needs to be.
Agar work is cheaper and easier than it looks. Get into it sooner than later.

They might have already germinated though since you have injected the spores towards the middle, they will start to germinate there. You may check the bottom of the jars to see if they have germinated or not.
Just wait a bit maybe a week or two, probably by the time you have seen the colonies they would have already penetrated through most of the grains.

This is what I've been thinking about. If I'm waiting on jars per MS syringes, and I have some shrooms (fresh of course), I could make some agar. This what I want to do (Sorry BobbySkidz, not trying to thread jack here).

If you've got fresh mushrooms on hand, commence cloning!
Local non-chain health stores will have agar. (NOT Whole Foods, a local place).
Asian markets often have it too, it'll be near the tapioca. That stuff is way cheap and works great.
Grab some malt at the homebrew shop, or the health store will have it too.
PF jars work great to get started, you can buy petri dishes later if you like.

If I put a Sclerotia on agar, am I degrading the mycelium or is it like starting over from spores?
My guess would be that I am increasing the age of the mycelium and would eventually one day need to start again from spores, is this correct?

Sclerotia to agar is tissue cloning just like mushroom to agar.
It's not as young a culture as starting from spores but will have plenty of vigor.
Keep an early master dish under refrigeration. The mycelium will go into suspended animation and the clock stops ticking.
Pretty sure RR talks about this more in his vids, and I know Stamets covers it in TMC in detail.

I've used WBS for sclerotia. Not nearly as good as rye or PF cakes was my final decision.
Works well enough to tempt you to use it. But don't be fooled.
