Heroin is a lot of things. Its awesome, destroying, soothing, numbing, loving, addicting, dangerous..etc.
Its so bad because its so good. Evil at its purest, full of deception, but damn pleasurable. If I had a mountain of it life would be perfect, but life is hell chasing 40 packs.
edit: ive shot heroin over 250 times, and loved every minute of it. You bet your ass i had to pay the consequences for my actions though. Being sick sucks, its the polar opposite of being jammed off ya tits.

Oddly enough I do have an appreciation for Heroin. Not what it's done to people I know, but what it's done for me.
I've used it less than 10 times and only 2 times recreationally. What I mean by that is some times when I was hanging out with certain friends and threw my back out (which happened a lot) and couldn't find any percocet or vicodin and had no money to go to the doctor or hospital, one little phone call would get me a bag that would get me through the excruciating pain for the next 2 days.
But I've never been close to being physically addicted to opiates, even though I used to use them quite a bit for pain and recreation. I have seen a few friends spiral into the depths of hell due to it, but I also went through my own hell with my drugs of choice.
