 Grandparents charged with towing kid behind SUV

SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) — Two Florida grandparents have been arrested after police say they hooked their granddaughter's plastic toy car to their SUV and gave her a ride.
A Sarasota County deputy said he spotted the 7-year-old wearing a bathing suit and no helmet as she was towed behind the SUV Sunday. Her toy car was tied to a trailer hitch with dog leashes. She was not harmed.
The Sarasota Herald-Tribune (http://lb.vg/xF7OO) reports the vehicle was travelling less than 10 mph.
Paul Berloni was charged with driving under the influence, child endangerment and driving with a suspended license.
Belinda Berloni faces a child endangerment charge. Both admitted they had been drinking. Belinda said they were just having fun and had been towing the child all day.
The couple remained in jail without bail.

i've seen rednecks at my mines stack their kids on top of their souped up suv, and race down the road jumping over boulders and shit. at least the kids had an inner tube to grab onto. some people just don't think. there are better and safer ways to show your kids a good time.

What the fuck really send these people to jail without BAIL?? ok ill murder someone and get less time and bail. but if I try to have a little fun with my granddaughter im lower then a child rapist.  Our world is so fucked!

Sounds dangerous but seriously less then 10 mph doesn't seem that bad. You could be in as much danger falling off a bike as far as we know. They should have made her wear a helmet but I don't think they deserve jail time for this.

Less then ten mph isn't all that fast, defiantly when its ok for 7 year olds to get hopped up on ritalin and drive little Atvs and honda 50s that go much faster. If the grandparents were watching really close I don't see this being a issue. Wreckless maybe but I think their punishment was too harsh.

If your gonna do something like this atleast hold off on the booze until later in the day, when you don't have your grandchild hooked to the back of your vehicle.
