 retarded noob question regaurding a first grow

well my friend is growing for his first time, or at least attempting to. he has like 7 jars 1/2 pint and used 1 srynge from lil shop of spores.. (wich by the way was an absolute luxury to go through, very fast like 3 day delieveery and they threw in an Xtra srynge puerto ricans  lol) but yeah he ordered treasure coast as they were on overstock and also he picked up some EQ's but this is for the treasure coast one.
he used boiling pot method no pressure cooker, and inculated the jars about 5-7 days ago or so. i have a picture of one of the jars growth so far.. but my question is what is it? mycelium at an early stage or just a contam?
substrate is professional grade vermiculite with brown rice flower

hard to tell from pics. is it white? Does it have orange or red in the white part?

as far as i know there is know growth at all aside form what u see in that pic, i wont be able ot get any more pics untill like thursday or so but i remeber it being just white, like i said im sure its very early growth.. he just has never done anything liek this before and does not know what to expect or even what mycelium looks like at this early of a stage, THX alot for your responses so far i was just hopeing it was mycelium and not cob web mold or some other varient of that

actually not that i look more closly at that picture it does look more similar to mycelium to me then when i last saw it, but when i seen it that was only like 3 or 4 days after inoculation so it was prolly to early for me to tell if it was mycelium then as i am a noob at this lol

It looks pretty grey to me to be mycelium, especially that much growth in such a short time. First mycelial growth will usually start where your injected the spores at the top of the jar and will be bright white. Keep an eye on it, but don't open it. If it is a contam you don't want it to spread anywhere.

yeah thats what i thought too, i thought mycelium was gonna be bright pearly white spots growing, this picture right here is from about a week or so after inoculation, he wont be taking the lid off till its fully cultivated anyways, i personally wont be able to see it untill like thursday again so i can maybe give u an update then, during inoculation the water dripped down the sides inside so i dont know if that would make it start growth like that, assuming thats even a good picture tho lol. i can almost garentee he has shitty lighting for that picture

should i tell him to leave the foil on the jars or should he take off the foil? theres lid on there and stuff still but i have just heard that peopel say take foil off, but in all the videos and stuff i watched i dont recall them saying ot take off foil during incubation period so i was maybe gonan take off after mycelium started to take hold

Take off the foil. Open the lid, smell the jar. If it makes you want to puke, or has a sour/bitter smell, toss it. But like mentioned before, that is an awful a lot of growth for four days to be mycelium. Especially with a multispore injection.

heres a couple of my jars on day 6 after inoculation
(notice the grayish color myc from the substrate behind it)
i think your jars will be just fine.with time the myc will grow rhizo and solid white.

ROGERRABBIT: P cubensis will grow on stuffed animals, bibles, quarter pounds of weed, bras, etc.
In other words,it's hard to fuck up a cube grow.

If you had moisture dripping down the inside when you sterilized the jar that may lead to a mold contam. Im still a noob and am learning, so like cubes pointed out it is very possible that it is perfectly fine myc. growth, but from what I understand excess water in an inoculation jar does lead to higher risk of a contam.

yeah there was no moisture dripping down at all, i ment it was running down the side when i injected them as the srynges are water with the spores in them as im sure u know so i ment the water from the srynge, thank u very much for those pics cubes thats exactly what the growth looked like and i was concered it was some mold instead of mycelium, i too now think the jars will be just fine much love!!!!

Oooooh okay that makes way more sense why your myc. would start growing like that. I would be really interested to see how the rest of the cake turns out as I have never seen that before so please keep us updated! And yes Mushy, I am aware that mycelium growth is mold haha I was insinuating "mold" in the form of a contaminant, but thank you for the clarification.

I got my substrate cakes birthed and used dunk n roll... 75 to 78 degrees and 95 to 99% humidity been 8 days and barely pinning.... How much longer for pink buffalo to fruit??

It can take upto two weeks to get pins, give it time. Make sure you provide plenty of FAE as well as that is the main pinning trigger.

I just started my first sub is killer... I got pink Buffalo started 8days ago... Used dunk n roll... Got terrarium 75 to 78 degrees.... And 95 to 99 percent humidity... Only got white spots on it neEd a prof.. Opinion.... Bout right settings?? And how much longer??
