And I want to try to get free wifi in my new house. What would be the best way to go about getting free wifi for under $40 using equiptment from ebay?

Define what you mean by free wifi. As in, you want to pick up on wifi signals? For what device?

assuming you have a modem and internet connection, search for "wireless router" - pick something under $40

I want to pick up on wifi signals on my laptop. I searched ebay and there are hundreds of devices to increase your computers wifi range to pick up on signals and get free wifi. I have also heard of modifying linksys and using high gain antenna to pick up on other signals? I just dont know what would be best to do on my budget.

Why is it wrong to pick up on a free signal from mcdonalds or a motel or something thats what its there for lol. Im a paying customer I've payed for plenty of cheeseburgers haha.
I hear what your saying though im no theif just want to take advantage of anything I can untill I am financially stable I just got my first place and things are hard. Internet is not a luxory I can really afford.

Yup I sometimes drive to town to borrow my parents or girls gmmas internet lol. I guess I am going to just try to find a used modem and router and get an internet subscription. Sounds like the most reliable way but I dont know how long it will be before I have extra cash.
