I like all of the offensive smileys. The shroomery is a place where I come to talk about things that would have me shunned by most. I want to be able to make immature and racist jokes, and for the rest of you to be able to make polish, white, etc. jokes. I'm not much of a fan for the systematically enforced respect of anything.

In my mind, the Graemlin panel is part of the "official" website. An image doesn't get on there unless a staffer approved it, on behalf of the Shroomery staff acting in the best interest of the community.
Graemlins like  are to me unacceptable.
It sends a potent and negative message.
OTD is OTD, no point in changing that, but the rest of the forums should be welcoming to all, and that means curbing racist, sexist and homophobic discourse, as we already do.
Get rid of the racially insensitive graemlins and continue moderating racism, sexism and homophobia outside OTD.
I know that there are more who hate parts of our community slowly turning in a kind of jerry springer show, let them come forward and be heard.

Newbie, it's great that you think you aren't racist. Maybe it's true.
But to extrapolate from that to "there's no more racism" is quite a leap, and I'm no stranger to stoner logic.
If your assertion was correct this thread would be uncontroversial. Think about it.
I'm all for enjoying diversity. But "nigger" isn't a word that can be enjoyed by many people.

Why are black people so special?
You would have to get rid of all forms of prejudice. No more gay jokes, no more sexist gremlins, nothing left.
I think the joke is more on the racists.
Wiccan always comes off as a Christian fundameltalist when this subject gets brought up.

It really depends on what, "nigger" means to you.
If you believe that it means a black person that you hate unconditionally. then yeah, it's a shitty word.
But if you're from MY neck of the woods, "Nigger" means, "an ignorant person", so my boss, my dad, my brother, even my best friend could be considered a "nigger" at some point in their lives.
This isn't 1929. This is 2012. If you're still living in early racist America, then I'm sorry.

You dont get it man... Your from NYC? or at least east cost right? I am from central WI... Its not 1929 here, more like 1980 as far as racism goes. On top of that there are few, if any black people born in my area. Most come from Chicago or mill, with the sole purpose of sellng crack to rich white highschool kids. That is where my racist views come from. I have yet to meet one single black person in this area to prove my views incorrect.
Orig I am from a mid-west city with over 500,000 people. I know my racist veiw is fucked because of the people I have met there, but around here the blacks are niggers; ignorant in every sense of the word.

No.
I do think if someone is making racist biases or stereotypes towards a certain gender then they should be banned.
Honestly, I don't consider any of those smilies racist as all I see is a black awe big, a girl eating a watermelon, another lonesome watermelon. If you associate blacks with eating a certain type of food, then I'd consider you racist.
