Contrarian to who? Because Shins seems to be agreeing with RT so in this sense it is you who is being the contrarian. So that's this particular piece of psychobabble out the window.

It is apparently not enough that RT is focusing on topics not covered by some other media, no, he has to defend their integrity itself, and goes so far as to claim some moral equivalence between RT and independent and free western news agencies that are free of government control.
Everyone and every organisation has an agenda, not many people would disagree with this. It's pretty obvious that RT's agenda is to provide a pro-Russian, anti-imperialist alternative to western news channels. RT's audience is better informed then the average person, that's why they watch RT, so RT doesn't lie and misinform like the BBC,Fox, CNN ect do because they give the audience some credit. Instead they report the stories that western news won't touch in an in depth honest way, given the moral bankruptcy of the US/UK/EU ruling class you could be forgiven for mistaking this as anti western propaganda because it doesn't paint a pretty picture. But it is reality.

Not anymore and arguably not ever. The USSR very rarely invaded foriegn countries to impose thier will, unlike the US. The soviets were interested in controlling the countries around their borders to safegaurd themselves against Anglo-American aggression. This could be seen as a sort of Imperialism I suppose but definately not on the same level as US or British imperialism. These days they're interested in mutually beneficial trade not invading countries to inforce their will upon them like the US/UK have been doing.

Contrarian to who?
Contrary to a norm. In this case that would be the view of many Westerners and western governments that view the USSR and its propaganda machines with distrust and the US and media focusing on the US viewer with more trust. Someone who's contrarian in the manner I describe would take the opposite view to be learned or wise, perhaps, regardless of the evidence. They shirk one prejudice for another.

How does it follow that since Shins is agreeing with RT that therefore my argument fails? You say this as if its self evidenct, yet don't explain yourself.

What is the relevance of this stuff? This just seems like pointless flattery of no connection to the rest of the discussion.

Do you have any basis for your claim that RT's cover "is reality"?
Why exactly do you think the Kremlin funds them? Why do you think they invite on truthers to talk about death stars, vaporizing buildings, and other ridiculous nonsense?

lulz ussr invaded neighbouring countries, killed the intelligentsia, took people to concentration camps and purged the army. the anglo-american "aggression" was propaganda to justify their expansionist nationalism. you sound deluded to me, like the soviet union was this innocent country spreading joy and "not as bad as the evil us empire". ussr was a horror story that helped hitler refine its ideas about mass eradication of human people on an industrial scale.

Another update for you on the topic of the bizzare Assange/RT debacle.
Webster Tarpley on Jeff Rense.
They get to this topic more or less straight away.

It's all a goddamn joke in my opinion. What a perfect team to continue LEAKING and DUMPING all over us while morons sit with mouths wide open, ready to catch the golden web stream.

Totally agree, i find it hard to believe wikileaks is anything other than truly independant considering bradley manning is still in prison and assange is fighting extradition and years of torture in some prison somewhere! Some are even calling for his death!
