Spawn bag question for the pros?

I want to use a spawn bag with the standard BRF mixture as the substrate and make a large BRF block/cake. I know it has been done before (though they mixed in grain flour which I will not do) my question is, would steam sterilizing be effective for this? I have not been able to find a PC within my current budget so that is kind of out of the question. I have searched and find no previous posts on this.

Any substrate can be steamed without a pressure cooker, but bear in mind a large substrate is going to take much longer to get to temperature. I sterilize large filter patch bags of rye berries at 100C for 8 hours for our farm use. RR

8 hours is a good chunk of time but manageable. Thanks for the help RR, I am planning on growing out some oyters (probably some cubes too) and figured this method would be better yeild wise than just doing a bunch of 1/2 pints.
Thanks again

Thankyou, added to my favorites list. I actually got this idea from coming across spongifarm's pictorial, and last night I skimmed through to see if anyone asked about steam sterilizing and no definite answer was given.
I seen the troubles that slappypillhappy had with fruiting and hope to learn from his mistakes.
Thanks
