I decided to go for a quick hunt last week at the interface between a pine plantation and native bushland. Here are a few of my finds.
Mycena cf. atrata

Fuligo septica

Amanita muscaria

I dropped the camera and got this shot. I thought it looked cool.

While I was taking these photos there was a group of black cockatoos above me, feasting on pine cones they plucked from the trees. In the otherwise silent plantation I was surrounded by the clicking sound of the birds pulling their cones apart with their beaks. Intermittently there was a loud crash as a pine cone fell from the top of a tree after being discarded by one of the birds, bouncing from branches on the way down followed by a thud as it hit the forest floor. It made me a little nervous not being able to anticipate where the next thud would come from and whether one of the cones would land on me. When I looked up I could see aflash of yellow under their tails as they flew from tree to tree, dropping their cones as they took off.

I didn't realise when you first posted but this is Mycena nargan. You should post it on MO because that name keeps getting used with no apparent basis.

Will do.
I just came back in to suggest Mycena aff. atrata for your find, but I see you've reached the same conclusion. Didn't even realise it was in Fuhrer's book, I would have looked at it countless times.

So this may be way off topic but I was wondering if you guys have koala bears that live in the cities with you? Those things are super fucking cute, if any of you have any pictures of them I would love to see them. Also wombats are super cute too. So much biodiversity in your area.

Don't see many koalas on my hunts, lots of kangaroos, and the odd wombat here and there though. You won't find any of them in cities as such need to head out bush a bit.

I decided to have a look around Steiglitz on my way home yesterday. It was very dry so there wasn't much to find, but the habitat/landscape was awesome.

Just a little Pycnoporus coccineus

And this cool lichen. It was so bright and stood out.

Looks like a cool spot Timmi, pictures almost have a surreal look to them. I think I need to go there some time.

Checked out Morwell for the first time today, pictures soon.

Dermocybe sanguinea kula. (Was pretty excited to find these) - Thanks for the ID help TimmiT.

Rhodocollybia butyracea.

Galerina marginata

A really curious looking Laccaria sp.

Mycena austrofilopes.

Rhodocollybia butyracea.

Calocera sp. Couldn't really get in to take good photos, was like tiny fingers covering a whole fallen log.

Happy hunting folks.

Cheers LotG! I am actually a bit dissapointed with them tbh, I seemed to rush everything today. Left 4 hours late cause I had to work and then got lost driving around looking for the place for ages.
Didn't really find the first mushroom till about 4:00 o'clock. I hate being rushed, makes it so much less enjoyable.
Still glad I got up there though, and at least I know where to go know.
