Yet another flow hood thread.........

So i'm building a flow hood that is 24"x48". I am going to be using a Hepa Filter that has a static pressure of 1". I am going to assume my prefilter will have a static pressure of .2", but i left a little buffer room with the fan power in the event that it is more than .2". The fan can move roughly 1630 CFM at 1.4 SP. Seems right, just was hoping one of the sages could double check my calculations to make sure they were correct before i make purchases? This means the world to me!

Your fan is 2X too powerful for this setup. You'll have to block off at least half of it. If it's moving 1630 cu ft per min through all that static pressure, and you've got a filter opening of 8 sq ft, then the air speed is (1630 cu ft per min)/(8 sq ft) = 204 ft per minute (notice how the dimensions come out correctly? :smile:

). Should be close to 100 ft per minute.
