 Magick ; What should I start with ?  1

I first read about magick a few weeks ago and I'd really want to learn more about it, what would you magick practitioners think I should start with ? How much truth would you say there is in this practise ?

Buy a copy of "The Tree of Life: A Study in Magic" by Israel Regardie.
I'm not gonna lie it's kind of a tough read, but if you're interested in magic this is the book for you.

IMO, magick is using external symbolism to solidify intent and belief within one's own consciousness. If you learn to focus intent through meditation, you don't need "magick", your life becomes magick through your expression.

Meditation and other Yoga practices are an important part of magickal training, but only a part. Magick also encompasses a whole lot more than using external symbolism to solidify intent and belief. As described by Crowley, Magick is "the Science and Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will", something that meditation alone cannot do.
To OP, I would recommend both Psychonaut/Liber Null by Peter Carroll for an introduction to chaos magic and Magick Without Tears by Aleister Crowley as an introduction to magick in general (more specifically ceremonial).

Yeah we are all magician's. I can make naked ladies appear and disappear at will.
I always liked the chaos magick stuff.

I know you weren't talking to me, but IMO, meditation is very similar (almost identical) with theurgy, the magic of improving yourself spiritually and making yourself more in tune with nature.
Seriously OP, get the book in my earlier post, it talks about all this stuff (meditation, theurgy, ceremonial magic etc.) quite thoroughly. It has a few downfalls, for example the chapter on alchemy has a very limited scope, but overall if you're just interested in the basic theory and practice of magic, this book is quite a comprehensive resource.

Cool, I've heard the term before. But yea, that's basically what I'm saying. Meditation, which can deal with focusing intent (such as visualizing white light entering a friend), seems to be exactly what Crowley talks about by "the Science and Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will""the Science and Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will". The building blocks are all the same.

Start with low doses of anti-psychotics. If you still think there's people running around with magical powers get your doses upped. There is no such thing as witches or vampires, or magical powers. Sure it's fun to read or watch but take a step back man. It's just fantasy.

Anti-psychotics would most likely cause psychosis in most people. They'll also cause serious health problems and make people feel really sick. This is a spirituality forum on a MAGIC mushroom website - and your advice is just as delusional as an idiot psychiatrist I knew who FAILED to heal, care or help me.

I would agree, though I haven't read too much of crowleys teachings. Ive read a little bit second hand about crowleys teachings, but I've never actually owned one of his books. The book I'm recommending to OP was actually written by one of Crowleys apprentices, Israel Regardie, they later had a falling out, but he addresses crowleys teachings on Will in the book.

I have tripped over 300 times. I believe in ascension/apotheosis as a means of personal evolution and fulfillment. I do not think there are people with magical powers because there are not people with magical powers. Step back man. Have an honest look at the lives of famous "mages." They all died like regular Joes. None of them created power or wealth for themselves. At best they exploited others ( gullible suckers) for sex or monetary con schemes. People waste their lives with that shit. Do what you want.

when it comes to magick, aleister crowley is supposed to be the man...nonetheless, I wouldn't recommend him because much of his system is based on masturbatory/heterosexual/homosexual sex rituals that involve the consumption of human bodily fluids, what he calls "cakes of light."
really weird shit...his goal is dissolution of the ego, but his methods are bizarre.

Crowley was just another con man. He squandered his own sizable inheritance. He then began involving wealthy people in his charades in order to defraud them of their assets and get his own sexual desires filled. He left a lot of disease ridden and damaged people in his wake. He truly only cared about himself; he was a true sociopath.

I've heard he wasn't such a bad guy. Can't say I know much about him though. He did refer to himself as the 666, no? He's just another dude who has led to my understanding of embracing ones demons. Sounds like he may have embraced his and then some.
Dude I cast magick in my dreams sometimes. Maybe someday people will be able to shoot fireballs too in this plane, that would be sweet.
