Police arrest 2 for allegedly beating and robbing pot dealer

A Madison man selling an ounce of marijuana to two would-be buyers ended up getting beaten and robbed instead, with the seller calling police and the attackers getting arrested a short time later, according to police.
Kenneth Johnson, 18, Madison, was tentatively charged with strong-arm robbery and Clarence Smith, 20, Madison, was tentatively charged with battery, according to a Madison police news release.
Police said the seller got into the buyers' van on the 1900 block of Elka Lane on the city's north side and produced the pot which he was going to sell for $300.
"Instead of producing cash, the suspects pulled him out of the van and allegedly punched him, saying they were not going to pay," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.
The seller notified police who pulled the van over a short time later and made the arrest.
The pot seller was not charged.

yea
best part is  i live about 2 miles from where that happened    i wish i knew who the cops were so i could reaffirm them with a "you did the right thing" i'm sure they have gotten alot of the opposite
i know some of the cops in madison but there has been ALOT of new ones since 2005

people complained about house robberies n such on westside mainly  so now we have more than double the police from before

its still awfully scary for drug folk to exist

to my understanding california and michigan    cops just about refuse to enforce federal marijuana laws

Yea but did you call the cops? No

Because you think before you act.

That guy shoulda gotten his ass whooped. Then booked and sent to county for the night. If that happened here I know what the cops would have done. Probably would have given him another ass whooping for wasting their time.

If it was legal that would be one thing. But it isn't. So there goes that argument. It being illegal is why calling the cops is such a ridiculous move. One deserving of an ass whooping really. I guess karma got him first

stealing something you own not a crime - Jesus Bloodsheen, you must have been raised in some ghetto or white trashville or something where that applies. So if someone takes yo mommas toiletpaper it aint theft and what she gonna use to wipe her ass with then?

And if someone took all your moneys and your clothes and left you naked alone outside will you still say it wasn't a crime?

MMMM?

Damn honestly you sound like a criminal. but I mean with a name like bloodsheen its obviously you're either an italian mobster with no mercy, a blackman from the ghetto who blames other people for being rich and for your poverty or your just some white trash punk who has no ethics or morals to contend with, just a stupid waste of oxygen.

Your statements are totally antisocial.

In case you're poor its not rich folks' fault, its your ancestors fault.
Don't go all commy bastard on well off capitalists thinking that you can take whatever you can for free. That's bull shit.

You sound like you deserved to have the living shit robbed outta your ass...

bloodsheen if drugs where legalised then drugdealers would no longer have jobs coz then pharmacies would sell crack, pcp, meth dope, acid dmt and whatever the hell else.

Criminals can thank their lucky stars drugs are illegal otherwise they would be out of an income.

In a way drugdealers should be grateful for the illegality of their wares...

wouldn't you agree?

i'd sacrifice my ability to sell for legalization anyday
i know alot of people who have gotten legal problems because of drugs, alot of people who are scared in their own homes because they are drug users, alot of people who could definitely gain alot from psychedelics ( fighting anxiety, depression, addiction  etc)
alot of people who can't support their habits because their drug use costs 200 dollars a day instead of what would be 2 dollars a day if it were legal (opiates)

not just for other people but i myself would give up 2grand a month for my own freedom

but yes  thats alot of reason why drugs are still illegal, so certain dealers can monopolize the market and use police to take out competition.    some of those drug dealers are well known to everyone such as pharmeceutical companies
others are down the street from where i live  who sell rock 24/7 in same post everyday and talk friendly with police all the time "haha oh jamal! thats a good one. hows the kids?"

I agree with them getting charged with assault but not robbery. To me that is like if you parked your car in the middle of the road and somebody ran into you charging the person who hit you with reckless endangerment or something. You were involved in illegal activity and you got the shitty end of the stick for it. I pay a high premium as a consumer because these people's lives are dangerous and illegal.

Im completely for legalization BECAUSE it eliminates this kind crime. But im not for the law being bent just because it happens to be a crime I wish didn't have to happen. We read stories all the time on this site that show cops bending the law to catch criminals, I want cops to be honest and charge people with what they deserve to be charged with.

Im not promoting violence Im promoting consistency in the legal system.

But they clearly committed robbery.  It would be assault if they didn't take anything.

"Robbery is the crime of taking or attempting to take something of value by force or threat of force or by putting the victim in fear."

If somebody had a pile of child porn and somebody stole it at the end of a gun would you still want the person to be charged with robbery and assault and the seller to get off scott free?

I don't have a problem with the cops doing their job.

I'm pretty sure you can possess a controlled substance in a legal sense. Because that is the charge.

So its not that crazy to say he got robbed. What is crazy is not booking his stupid ass. A) He lied and filed a false police report. Or B) you charge him with conspiracy to sell a class 1 controlled substance. Which in my state is a class X. Because that is what he admitted to doing. And apparently it was the truth.

Either way this kid should have been booked on the spot. Not coddled.

Well that is definitely one way to handle it.

If somebody had a pile of child porn and somebody stole it at the end of a gun would you still want the person to be charged with robbery and assault and the seller to get off scott free?

Yes.

I have participated in child porn investigations, and I don't believe that child porn should be illegal.

i think its a slippery issue, i can see both sides

though i'll always find the person arguing the legalization side of this  as much more amiable

I just don't see locking up people who have child porn pictures as a good use of resources.  If child molesters have child porn, they are going to be a whole lot less likely to offend.

I completely agree with you, Alan, people should be able to do whatever they want as long as it's not harming someone, ie: child porn.

I think anything other than pictures of nude children (sexual acts) is crossing the line, though. Also, I feel as if the child should be old enough to agree to such pictures.

I think it should be illegal to make child porn.  But not illegal to have it.

thats what i think makes it a slippery issue
because alot of people will argue that  watching cp will increase the market for making it

and honestly, i don't know if it would or not    the whole issue has alot of unknown to do with it imo

but i definitely do agree that police have better things to do
as in murder cases, robbery, sexual assault          even a noise complaint should probably come first    since there is actually currently an issue at hand

also  trying to give people "therapy" for being attracted to 15 year olds  is just as retarded as trying to cure someone of being gay.    humans are attracted to what they are have been made to be attracted to,  congress has no influence over this. neither does the catholic church
