call me a homer if you want, but this latest round of accusations is laughable. ESPN refuses to name or even reveal anything other than baseless accusations.
for those of you that dont know, i work concerts that use extremely complex wireless in ear systems. systems that are constantly cutting edge and Im willing to bet at the very least, on par with anything the NFL has. it is illegal to own a wireless amplifier greater than .25 milliwatts not sanctioned by the FCC, and the power needed to transmit from the field to the skybox exceeds that. anything like that would be hardwired. Also, every single game would need to individually scan each piece for proper bandwidth synchronization, this would need to be done to the belt pack clones as well since within any given day frequency bleed can occur from almost anything at anytime.
I am not saying that it is impossible for Loomis or anyone to have done this, im just saying that I already know that it is absolute bullshit because of the "facts" that this "informant" has "leaked" are not in line with reality or physics.
and they screwed up big letting the FBI in on this. what happened was ESPN wanted some more headlines out of the saints so some rookie journalist got ahold of some really crap info, tried to cram it into facts, and called the FBI to rouse up more controversy and give it some credence.
when the FBI finds that this was all bullshit, and gets to the bottom of it, a lot of people at ESPN are going to get fired, and then sued.

Well I'm no expert on communications hardware but I will say this.
Having a transmitter to pick up game day communications would be worth millions if it won them one home game. Not to mention getting information on division opponents. It would have given them a wealth of knowledge that they have used for years to come. Plenty of motive to go all out.
ESPN is only in criminal trouble if they lied to the feds. Which i guarantee their lawyers did not allow them to do. So lets say this all made up, nothing will happen to ESPN. And the reality is there are probably quite a few teams who have done this or at least attempted to tap opponents communications. They are sports news, they reported. Good for them
The saints need to step up their game or just give all the dirt up now. Their organization is falling apart.

I think in reality he was probably just listening in to the other owners/ GM's chatter and nothing to do with actual play calling and the coaches-to-QB.
If it turns out to be true they should just sell the Saints. Try to keep them in New Orleans but Loomis is done.

look up libel. once sued for libel it is up to the defendant to prove that their allegations were in fact true. punitive damages will be awarded based on trying to prove that they did so with intent to defame or continued to report the story with knowledge that any part of it was false.
i can tell you right now, the belt pack story is false. there is absolutely no fucking way for them to do that without doing it for every single time they wanted to eavesdrop.
they could however have some hardwired thing.
I just dont see the saints just getting out of a scandal due to lying to the NFL turn around and start lying to the FBI. Loomis has been more than cooperative with this and everyone involved is emphatically denying it.
in all honesty, what will probably happen is it will be inconclusive on each side. ESPN has already padded itself by saying "allegedly" and "could" and "might have". that isnt journalism.
"LiquidSmoke might have fondled a pre-schooler last year. An unnamed source of mine tells me that he possibly could have rubbed balls with a 4 year old".
that isnt journalism. that is defamation. anyone could have done anything.
I hope that when this is all done, some other media outlet sees the potential to boost ratings through investigating ESPN. because ESPN is really the only game in town when it comes to sports, and they are just going to bury this embarrassment once it comes to light that they are just bullshitting for ratings.

I am reserving judgment until all the facts are out. ESPN wouldnt run with the story unless they had some kind of credible source, imo.
So i'll sit back and wait.
If ESPN fucked up, then yeah, they will be sued I am sure. But if it turns out to be true, it wouldnt be that surprising to be honest and I would expect him to be removed from the NFL completely

And just an FYI they are a multi billion dollar corporation. The saints won't get anything but a drop in the bucket from them.
Don't you realize people have already ran the numbers for a worst case scenario/ Clearly the risk was worth the profit and ratings.

Yeah I just saw that as well. Will Smith also banned 4 games.
They did get some good LB's signed in Lofton and Hawthorne. But yeah, Vilma was definitely the signal caller on defense.

was... signing lofton to 5 years, to me, means they are building around lofton.
im really happy malcolm jenkins didnt get any suspension... i had heard something about that and was worried.
also in the news that i thought was interesting.... houston lets go of jacoby jones. he is no elite WR, but i could see him easily being a #2 on more than half the teams in the NFL. Sorry assed houston fans trying to lay blame on him for losing to BAL... the dude is a WR, not a punt returner.... dont boo someone for doing their secondary job poorly, boo the coach for keeping him in.
