My fellow Americans, this is a crisis. There can only be one solution to this problem: ban hand sanitizer and any other products containing alcohol, including mouthwash, after shave and insect repellent. Grab your torches and lets go out and burn all the alcohol so our kids can be safe!

I resent the use of the word "distill" used in this story. Adding salt to separate the alcohol from the gel is NOT distillation.

can't alcohol be destilled from just about everything that is alive?
i.e. trees, fruits, vegatables, grain, rice anything that is edible
kinda need trees for oxygen, food for eating
trees are drug precursors :p breathing isn't important

^^^hahaha yes I know you did not imply that at all, I was just face palming the fact that you have actually witnessed other human beings do this. That proves that I am wrong...I honestly could not believe anyone would do this  I never thought I would say it, but Listerine sounds like a better choice than HAND SANITIZER (And OBVI Listerine is disgusting... but I would have believed that before this).

These kids aren't even distilling it, that's just what they call it on the news. They're just mixing it with salt to separate the liquid and gel.

This is why the drinking age should be 18 again. Older kids can help the younger ones through these rights of passage.
The kids wanna get messed up and they will anyway they can. Providing a safe environment with clean safe limited substances is the way to go.
Remove hemp and safe alcohol and when they graduate from spinning around until they are dizzy on the lawn they will have no choice but to move to huffing gasoline and other unsafe practices that are available.

When I was too young to legally buy alcohol I just got older people to get it for me like a friend's older brother or something, or just went and found a crackhead/bum within a block of a liquor store to get it and for payment I poured them a shot into their mouth without letting their lips touch the bottle. Kids these days are just retarded is all.
