trying to play a game like that on sandy bridge system on a chip graphics is not a great idea, you're either going to want a laptop w/ dedicated graphics or at least an ivy bridge based hd4000 rig (they are just rolling out nowish or any day now)

quite comparable to the specs you posted w/ the addition of dedicated 1gb nvidia 550m, imagine it would handle skyrim with low-medium settings quite decently

Ah ok. Good thing I asked, I guess id rather have a rig that could play it on med/high detail graphics. What do you think of this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215254 Is that good graphics card and overall setup? The only things I dont like is how massive it is, I think 14-16in would b plenty big. Also id rather have a faster hdd... Im having a hard time finding exactly what I want

http://www.notebookcheck.net/The-Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim-Benchmarks.66057.0.html
you're looking to find a dedicated graphics card w/ your preferred settings in the green Radeon 7670m low 47fps, medium 34 fps, high 22fps, ultra 11fps... so is green at low settings, kindah mediocre at medium.
the geforce 555m gets 45fps at low, 36 at medium, 26 at high, and 13 and ultra... so according to these benchmarks they're pretty on par w/ each other, the extra ram is fairly meaningless for the screen res you're playing at...
i know that the 6770m in my macbook pro plays skyrim fairly decent at considerably higher resolutions, have tried 1650x1080p on my laptop, and 1080p on my thunderbolt displays did well too, but was unsurprisingly crushed by 2560x1440p native res. maybe you could find a 6770m card in your budget, but it doesn't appear there is one on newegg, google/amazon 6770m
in all likelihood the cheapest you could play w/ on high settings is the gtx 560m, try googling, amazoning it on sites other than newegg and see if you can find an affordable buy for that too.

I have a Schenker notebook. Their a German manufacturer that specialize in custom laptop builds. I would definitely recommend them or other reputable custom manufacturers over anything else prebuilt. Take your time. It's never too late to buy a quality PC.

Did you buy it yet? Seems to me less that 2 TB HD is passe. Maybe it doesn't matter to you, but with 2 TB you can rip any amount of games and use with virtual drive and throw out the CDs which makes them much more portable.
I tear up 2 TBs of HD in a month downloading from Pirat-ebey.

You dl 2 TB a month? Damn, I thought I was a hog with 500 GB a month.
Personally, I would rather have a small fast HD on a laptop and keep storage on external drives or desktops.

Still havent made a purchase. The more I study, the more picky I get. i found this http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/829664-REG/Acer_LX_RNA02_008_Aspire_7750_AS7750_6458_17_3.html its on sale, but after getting a year of accidental coverage, its about 800.
Then there is this http://www.agearnotebooks.com/asusn53sv-dh51.html bluray is appealing, and adp is included free. If the hdd was 7200 id get it for sure.
Then there is this beast http://www.agearnotebooks.com/msige60-0n-006.html its brand new. Just qish it czme with bluray. Its 59$ upgrade so if I get it ill be paying like 1250 cus I need a bag too. Ugh so many choices

If I had a reason to get a really good laptop, I'd want to get one with two drive bays, an SSD for boot etc. and the other one for a big storage drive. More likely though if I needed a mobile computer I would just get a cheap netbook and add more storage.

Seems like SSD is the way to go then in that case, conventional notebook hard drives don't come anywhere close for speed. I'd like to try one eventually but I don't have it in the budget right now. Not that they're all that expensive these days, I'm just kind of broke.

Yeah definitely get one with an SSD as the OS drive then if speed is the objective. You are talking about the difference of windows loading in 5 seconds instead of 60.. photoshop opening in .7 seconds etc..

I just did this the other day. Best investment I've made since I purchased my laptop.

This past weekend at a party someone had an Origin gaming laptop, they were playing Battle Field 3 on it. The laptop is like 3-4 times thicker than my laptop and weighs about the same as a desktop tower, so that pig would never go in my lap. Plus it cost at least 2 grand; which are IMO crack head prices... http://www.originpc.com/eon17-gaming-laptop-features.asp

I cant imagine needing mobile gaming that bad...
The slicker thing to do is to run your game on your home powerhouse desktop and play it by remote. People are getting better at setting this scheme up. Some have been able to use their tablets to play windows games remotely.
Thats really the way to go for mobile gaming, a couple years down the line I may guess. As long as you can get a connection, offload the power hungry processing power to the home computer and just use the mobile device to display and send commands.
