Movies that act as a psychologist / guide for life?
    #16112937 - 04/19/12 08:48 PM (1 year, 1 month ago)

Does anyone have any recommendations? :sun:

Spiritual movies, thrillers, religious, comedy, whatever you think helped you out. nOt looking for any thing dark or mind fucking now, well as long as it has a happy ending a bit of drama is aight i guess lol

Just a movie that will help me get a grip on what life is about, or how to cope i don't know maybe you get what i'm saying and have better words than what im saying i'm looking for..

Just going on quitting smoking for my second week now, and stuff hasnt been too peachy in all other areas of my life either.

I know i just need to listen to my heart, but i feel scattered/confused right now due to withdrawls.

So i guess just go with what you FEEL would be the best top 5 or 10 movies for me to watch tonight.

BIg Thanks for reading and taking the time so i don't have to see any shrinks.:heart:

The Fountain and Good Will Hunting come to mind...

I hate to present a hippy cliche, but Waking Life had one scene in the whole movie that has changed my life.

Why don't you cut the corner and see a hypnotist to help deal with your cravings.

"Adaptation"  would fit both of those categories (life provoking and date). I really really liked it, one of my favs. Its just one of those movies that to me made me feel more alive after watching.

Two documentaries I recently watched I recommend are "Commune". About a commune in the 60's. Really good and life inspiring. Also, "Bombay Beach" I found really good. Just a interesting slice of life that makes you want to live yours.

If i think of any more ill post them, hope you enjoy. You have the strength inside to do whatever you want. Thoughts are just thoughts, energy, essence, you can use to do whatever you want in the now. You are formless composing the form. Be whoever you are.Nothing holding you back.  Much love, Weshroom.

Fight Club.

"I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off."

Fight Club -- a must watsch

V for vendetta (although original comic book is way way better)

Open Range -- really good, just awesome movie with awesome scenery, tells something about manners and love.

Enter the Void -- druggie darkness

Irreversible -- really dark, violent and scary: teaches that your whole life is actually on a string which actions can not be reversed, All t takes is one snap.

One point 0 -- hard to understand, has a point about our consumerism, our private zones and corporate society.

Stalker -- always good, thoughtful and dreamy. But catching the real point might take some more dedication.

Apocalypse Now -- this is thoughtful, funny, thrilling, dramatic and depressing at the same time, I suggest watching the extended edition which is over 3 hours long journey. This gives you really immersing experience.
