the whole point in jury nullification is to put the law on trial, the evidence wouldnt matter if the law is outdated and should be stricken

Let's say the juror is racist, has an extreme hatred toward insurance companies, or something else. Then, what the jury nullification advocator is doing (without realizing it) is telling the juror to vote to lock someone up for the rest of their life based on their skin color or to vote against an insurance company even though they were in the right... Just be careful with it.
if a racist sits in the jury box and a black man is on trial then no amount of talking is going to sway a racist to free the black man, jury nullification isnt about imprisoning people, it's about freeing people that shouldnt be classed as criminals or put on trial in the first place

heard a jury nullification movement person on coast 2 coast some time ago... was amazed at how it worked and how its somehow against the law to let jurors know about it.

that's what gets me is that no one in the court can inform you of it, if a juror knows and tells the other outside of the courtroom then it isnt illegal
the reasoning in that supreme court ruling was that they felt too many people could disagree with laws being established that went against common law and into tort law

cant remember the guy who was on the show but he's in a process of trying to kill that law so jurors are made aware of it beforehand. im also not a US citizen so i didnt really pay attention to details of the whole thing but the main thing i understood made me feel like the states made the law unlawful. its against the law to tell others what the law is.

I would not convict anyone of a drug charge, regardless of the type of drug. I do not believe in laws that punish people for choices which do no harm to others.
If cannabis is to be legal it will be because it has the support of many people who do NOT smoke. I feel it would be very hypocritcal to ask for this support from non-smokers, then vote to convict someone of a crime because I don't personally indulge in their particular drug of choice.

I just called the jury duty line, as they instruct you to do the night before. My jury duty for tomorrow, April 16th, has been called off. The next one is April 30th. So we'll have to wait to see what happens then.
