 I need birthday gift ideas for my girlfriend?

I want to get something cool for her birthday. She is kind of a new girlfriend, but we have been good friends for two years, dated and hooked up on and off for the past year, and she has been my girlfriend for the past two months.
It shouldn't be too expensive, it should be thoughtful, I was thinking maybe some kind of fun activity but its difficult for us to get a night off work together.
I am terrible at thinking of gift ideas...

I am terrible at gifts as well. But I think an activity is on the right track.
I mean, think of your favorite memories together. Was it some object, or some time and place? Go someplace or do something you've been talking about doing for awhile, and give her something related to commemorate?

I usually get them a really good apology for why I didn't get them anything.
Honestly dude the point of the gift is that You got something for Her. I could tell you to get her a gun or tickets to six flags, but what makes it good is that it's personal.

This sounds cool. Great idea! Been wanting to do this for a while. Something like sushi, or maybe a more classical meal like something french. Then again, I'm an accomplished enough amateur chef and professional cook, I am sure I can just cook something for her that would be very nice. But a class might be fun!

Haha! yeah. Which might involve the nice gift you should have got her in the first place.
But yeah, I wish it was that easy. Seriously, I always get the dumbest gifts for people. ANd this is what people always tell me, to think of something special, but i guess i'm not thoughtful enough to do that.

I thought about getting her a cute pair of knee socks that I saw. I thought this because I don't allow her to wear socks when we are doing it. I think its weird. But these are sexy enough that I might allow it.

The socks can keep her feet warm and be one less thing on her mind before a better climax.
Just saying.
Anyway, I almost always get a lady a gift that will last a long while and mean something. Frequently this is a book she doesn't have in a series she loves. Alternately, I remember giving someone House on DVD seasons 1-3 and she enjoyed it immensely. Items that she can/will take on upcoming trips/vacations are another idea I can think of. Proves that you've been listening too.
Finally, I would avoid gifts she can wear due to the fact that sizes, colors, and styles are almost always in the eye of the individual. However, with that said you could get by with a gift card to a favorite clothing shop she likes and tell her that you'd love to sit there and watch her try everything on (but don't impose any time restrictions).
