Shulgin Blotter Art Fundraiser 9

Please check it out;
Hello all, I am writing to you either because you have a direct link with the Shulgin Blotter Art Fundraiser or because you have a mailing list or circular that reaches large numbers of the psychedelic community. I am writing to ask for your help with publicity.
On April 7, the first batch of sheets for the Blotter Art Fundraiser go on sale and I am very eager to reach as wide an audience as possible with this. I would be extremely grateful for anything you could do to help us distribute the following release:
"The Shulgin Blotter Art Fundraiser is auctioning sixty sheets of Blotter Art, signed by Ann and Sasha, Stanislav Grof, Dennis McKenna, Jim Fadiman and Ralph Metzner, with all profits going to the Shulgins to help cover their medical expenses.
LSD was first put on blotter paper in the early 1970s and this quickly gave rise to a specialized art form of decorated blotter paper. Often the blotter paper was decorated with tiny insignia on each perforated tab, but by the 1990s this had progressed to full-page designs. After some time, art lovers began to collect the unsaturated (inactive) artwork, and since then its popularity as an art form has blossomed.
In late 2010, Sasha Shulgin, discoverer of the therapeutic properties of MDMA and hundreds of novel psychoactive chemicals, suffered a stroke. Although he has been recovering since this time, the Shulgins are struggling against a tide of medical and care bills. Sasha continues to face a variety of age-related health challenges. Despite Sasha's important work in the laboratory, the Shulgins have received very little monetary gain from their endeavours.
By bidding for one of these limited artefacts of psychedelic history, you can help an elderly couple who together have transformed psychedelic science, in a way that no fundraiser can ever repay.
AUCTIONS START APRIL 7 www.theshulgins.com ebay ID: shulginblotterartfundraiser" With many thanks.

Interesting. I'm glad the psychedelic community is rallying to help the Shulgins.

Well, I've bid twice and only increased the current price.
...someone with more dough than I have has already laid out a high bid.
I am unemployed and will have to just see what happens.
Take care all,

Cool. I'm gonna check back in on this in a couple of days, to see how high (no pun intended) the bids get.

I put this page on stumble upon, as well as the ebay pages. Hopefully that will give it a little more attention. I'd definitely buy some if I had the cash. Hopefully they sell pretty well.

Also, as a heads up to people who can afford them, just realize that they will be worth far more in 20 years or so. They will definitely be collectors items.

Well, I for one would be much more interested in having blotter signed by Terrence McKenna than Dennis. Too bad he didn't sign a bunch (for whatever purpose) before he passed. Its a tiny bit misleading cause the E-bay ad just says McKenna signed, you have to look at the signature to realize it was Dennis.
Dennis is an interesting personality all his own within the psychedelic community though, so his signature is not out of place on the blotter.

Terence wasn't a fan of LSD though, but Dennis - definitely is
Also I always used to see Leary and Kesey signed blotters back when they were alive for around $100, now they're usually worth 3-5 times that. Shulgin hasn't signed much blotter, but those that he has are already worth in the $400-ish range usually. I'm betting once he's gone they may experience a significant increase, especially since a lot of the signers on those blotters are getting up there in age.
When I was at the Basel LSD conference in 2008, I bought a MAPS signed edition of My Problem Child (signed by Hofmann and Grof, since Grof did the Introduction) for $400. I didn't really want to spend $400 on a signed book, but bought it anyway, there were only 100 of these. As soon as he passed, the price jumped up to $1000. When I had a fire at my home, I was only able to save a few prized things (about 1 rubbermaid 20 gallon bin of stuff was all that was left of the things I had collected from my life) - this book was one of them...At this point the sentimental value out-weighs any monetary value the book might have...

What are they always fundraising for anyway, research or just living? I don't get why they don't just make some legal research chemicals, I'll bet he could make a bunch of money.

please do not take this as an offence, but about your suggestion, I guess there isn't a facepalm involving enough palms to voice my thoughts on your remark. when a conclusion seems too predictable, it probably was long pondered by everybody else and not viable.

The shulgins have way to much dignity and respect to make money like that. Sasha is a legend and I wish I could donate more to his cause.

I don't think it would be sacrificing dignity to make money like that. After all the reason people are donating to him is because they've sampled his chemicals.
Anyway I guess I didn't think about the complications of living after a stroke.

The fund raising is necessary to help defray medical expenses incurred by Dr. Shulgin's stroke and subsequent care and medicine. These folks are not living high on the hog, believe me, they're just trying to make ends meet.
The fact that Mckenna, Grof, and others are willing to come to their aid in such a venture is a testament to the contributions made by Sasha Shulgin during his heyday. No one PLANS on getting sick, and no one PLANS on outliving their store of funds, but it happens.
I for one will make a purchase if it doesn't get too pricey.
