Dried shrooms black on the inside

Hello all.
I recently finished my mushroom grow of some P.Cubensis and when picked, I was quick to dry the mushrooms using a small heater/fan combo overnight.
This got them VERY cracker dry and I have been keeping them in a small ziplock bag for the past week now, however, I decided to cut one open down the middle today and found that they were very black on the inside.
Since this is my first ever experience with growing mushrooms, I have NO idea if this is normal, but my logic tells me its not and some researching around has told me that blackness anywhere is a sign of bacteria so would it be a good idea to make a tea out of the shrooms to kill them?
The shroom shown in the picture is not cracker dry, however when I snapped open one of the week-old dry ones, I saw the same blackness
The picture included shows 3 samples, the 1 on the left is a semi-dried shroom cut in half with the blackness, (the one I am worried about) And the two white shrooms are two halfs of a freshly-picked shroom that I am leaving overnight to dry.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

Was that a cap? Sometimes they drop their spores while they are drying.

that does not look like P.Cubensis,no blue/green bruising stands out at all.i have never seen that kinda sulffing of the stems before, this reminds me somewhat of a onion, and the bulbous base isn't cubensis like make me a believer and post the caps!

ROGERRABBIT: P cubensis will grow on stuffed animals, bibles, quarter pounds of weed, bras, etc.
In other words,it's hard to fuck up a cube grow.

I will post pictures of the caps in a second.
They are definitely P.Cubensis I think because there has been lots of blue bruising on the PF cake and I will post a spore print soon

Yeah, it is an open stem, but I am wondering if the blackness is normal? it doesn't seem to be

Didn't check, but the two things on the left of that picture show the opened up stem of a freshly picked one, and that is pure white so I assume the others were when I first picked them

Were there any signs of contam on the cake? Off colours (besides blue), odd textures .etc
It does seem pretty odd imo

Not really, cakes looked nice and white with healthy mycellium. I'll post a pic up later if ur interested. But apart from that the shrooms looked like cubensis with no weird signs of contam.
I grew these using a grow kit so I think that lowers my chance of any contam getting in pre-inoculation because it was all done by machine there? not sure though

I'm having a hard time piecing the mushroom together... Looks like some sort of plant cutting. The more I look at the pic the more confused I am.

The pictures are very simple,
The shroom on the left is a semi-dried shroom with it's cap taken off cut down the middle of the stem so it is exposed.
The two other things to the right are two halves of a freshly-picked shroom with it's cap removed, it has been cut down the middle.
More pictures of everything coming up soon

Cool, I have uploaded some more pictures to help with this problem:
It is important to note that with the shrooms that have the black inside, I left them in a paper towel at room temperature for about 2 days before I got around to drying them, this shouldn't be a major problem and I had fan dried them for 24 hours so they were about 40% water
This picture shows the now-dried inside of a shroom cut in half down the middle with it's stem removed. This one doesn't seem to have this black coloring which is surprising:

The picture below shows the inside of one of the weird black shrooms, now cracker-dry. The cap has been taken off and the stem has been cut down the middle to be exposed:

Finally, the picture belows shows the spore print and underside of the same cap of a freshly picked mushroom, this is just for identification purposes if anyone was wondering:

yea if they were white when fresh then turned dark after slicing them over then you just have some really potent mushies

Haha that would be good! But I am just concerned about the strong smell coming from them, as I said I have no experience with mushrooms so I'm not sure if it is the right smell or not.
Bear in mind the smell has gone down drastically now they are very dry

Mushies will have a strong smell. Especially when you first open the storage container.

Good to know, one last question though, do you recommend I make a tea out of these shrooms just in case the blackness is bacteria? or just eat them normally?

bacteria or anything bad wouldn't be so much (in) the mushroom, more (on) the mushie... if you can wipe the black and it dosent leave a dusty spore gunk on what you wipe with then your deff good.
I've had black mushies too... the psylocin oxygenates and turns dark blue/black.. more psylocin/psylocybin= more black
their just potent, and yes they are fairly strong when fresh.....
as long as you didnt seal them up for some time while they were still fresh, and they dried relatively fast (3-4 days) then your good..
No tea needed just consumption

yea and as stated above^^ dont sweat it either way... that could lead to a bad trip.
if they were fresh and white when you picked em, and you left them out to air dry then their deffinatly all good..
you mainly run into contams on mushies when you leave them in the fc too long or you leave them too moiste for too long while drying and if you dont have any contams in the FC that spawned them and you dried them correctly then theirs vertually no way they could contam.. that combined with the fact that what you are worried about is on the (inside) of the mushie and is (black) 1+1+1+1=4 = their good, just be warned their likly more potent then the average P. cubensis

hi guys I'm bumping this thread because I also have a shroom thats almost all black on the inside. the outside was looking perfectly normal and I putted it as a whole in the dehydrator, I got impatient and sliced the stem on its length to make it dry faster and it looked very much like OP's pic
so good or bad?
