it might seem like the yield was good or better than simply fruiting them inside a FC,but in fact casing cakes wont give you anything extra,thats what bulk substrates are for,you did the right thing by fruiting the in the FC as is,results will vary by genetics and growing conditions keep that in mind

Lawl this guy wants out. Getting a lot of people saying to invitro...like I said though I am concerned my yield won't be as good. Keeping in mind this is my first grow. Either way I am done colonizing, progress hasn't been that much, if I wait any longer it will grow invitro whether I like it or not lawl. So the next stage is happening tonight.
So I am leaning towards dunking/rolling. Do you guys really want to see an invitro grow? If so convince me Lawl :P

So I told you to do it invitro and when I go look at my jars what do I see? Pins in the jars lol. Tiny ones and since the cake has been consolidating anyway I'm going to dunk it tonight. Wish my lil pin luck!

Careful with that jar. More than likely, it's contaimed in that one spot. So when you take it out, try and do it in an other room so as to not spread whatever that contaim may be.

I don't think it's a contam. I been told in my other thread that this is the result because it was exposed to light+it's an aggressive pinning strain. I am probably going to cut it with a sterilized knife and continue with the game plan. I'll sleep on it.

Here's my little pin I just found last night. It's from a half pint (tall) jar of Eq's I shot up exactly 29 days ago. All the jars have been 100% and on the consolidating stage for a week. Saw this little pin just last night and decided it's ready to meet the dunk. After dunking for 12 or so hours into the FC it will go. I'm going to skip the roll and just hand batter some verm on the top, bottom and a little of the sides.

As for my crazy pin cake.
Birthed it and cut out the mushies, was probably good thing I did because they weren't attached on there too solid, they would have come off in water. I also cut off any uncolonized verm and proceeded to dunk.
Definitely got a fair amount I am happy  . Behold the first mushies I have ever grown lawl babies! I call them poppers :P

Started first pf tek on 2-1. Used a non sponsor no growth. Contams after a month. Second attempt 3-2 knots forming pins now. third attempt yesterday 18 jars half z strain half pr.

This one is BRF and verm. Classic PF tek. Tried to enhance the pic to show the rizo growth. Unfortunately, it is only slightly visible.
I would estimate that over 50% of the outside of the jar is colonized. Should I take any further steps, or wait? Also, is it bad if their is visible moisture on the jars/mycelium?

^Im Not a pro but research tells me it is perfectly normal. And i would be fucked cause all of my jars are doing that lol
How did you get the bottom of the tall jars to colonize before the top? Is your needle that long?

Yes, most of the teks I read/watched recommended pushing the needle in as far into the substrate as possible, and angled against the side of the jar. That way it's easier to see whether or not you have healthy mycelium before investing too much time in the jars. Seems to be working pretty well for me, some of the jars are about 50 - 75 % colonized after only 9 days.

I mean i know all that, i was just wondering if you did something special or if your needle is longer
Cause i did all of that and the top of the jars colonized wayyy before the top
and im using the same Tall 1/2 pints

Friday (two days ago) marked my two week interval:
- 1 jar is about 90%, 2 0r 3 are about 65-75%
- the rest are all about 50-60%
- 3 in quarintine - smell like fucking dirty socks - might be bacterial contam
The other set of jars look good and are coming along fine with about the same growth
If the jars smell like dirty socks, does it always mean a bacterial infection?
This same smell is what alarmed me made me throw out 2 jars in the first days of colonization

It should smell like a fresh mushroom. If it smells sour it is probably a contam. Does it have anything else but myc growing in it?
