Prop the cup up with a match to create airflow. will help for a better print and stop mushie from going weird.
Spores are micrscopic, just cause u cant see them dosnt mean they are not there.

Clarifying on the spore printing.
If i need to make a print, i try to choose a youngish specimen to do it with, you potentially get more spores, as it hasnt dropped as many as an older cap, and the chances of getting magotty caps is less. Also, the potential, i feel anyway, of getting a sterile print is greater, as the gills have not been exposed as long - but my theory.
Remember the cap needs to be kept humid to optimise the dropping of spores. air flow is good for carrying spores away and the mushroom depends on it for good success in spreading spores, but you need to maintain humidity. keep in mind the principle of Ballistospory (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballistospore), where the natural humidity around the fruiting body and the reaction caused by the osmotic pressure from exuded sugars shoot the spore away from the basidium to a safe distance from which it then falls.
I keep the cap under the cup no longer than 24 hours, and for young caps 12 hours should be sufficient for identification. In your case 24 hours would do better. I then let the print dry out slowly by removing the cap and placing the cup back over the print, also to maintain sterility.
I wouldnt have used the newspaper, if anything that would remove moisture from the air, unless it was wet - in which case it would help to maintain moisture, but reduce sterility of the print.
At the end of the day id ont see anything wrong with what you are doing, i just think you might want to get better cleaner caps to print with. Have a read of mycelium running, i think that would help you no end with what you have in mind. I love his grateful dead chainsaw oil. gold man, gold!!!
Cheers, Obtuse.

Nevermind, How many grams do you usually trip on?
It really depends.
I have done as little as 0.9g and as much as 3.5g.
1.5g - 2g is generally where I like to be. Anything under 1.5g is fairly weak and easy to handle. 1.5g - 2g is a good trip - lots of visuals and trippy thoughts. Over 3g gets a bit uncomfortable for me. The effects usually start within 15 minutes of ingestion and it gets very intense - I've had a few unpleasant experiences after going over the 3g mark.
It really depends where you want to be at.

Thank you NoxADVANCED Will do next time i make prints. Does that mean that the last picture is still ok to use? Also, how's your hunting going this season?

As this is all new to me, the friendly people on this site help someone like me to know the (right) way to go. I honestly believe without the advice given by people like yourself, I'd forever be in the dark on the matters all things Psilocybe Mushrooms. As you may have read from another post, i plan to increase the amount of Psilocybe Mushrooms in the surrounding areas where i live. This will allow me to collect enough mushrooms to last me a year or more, and that's with me enjoying the wonderful effect they give twice a week.
That's where the spore printing comes into play, I will from now on take prints all the time i find actives, even if the print ends up being a failure, it's alright, as Darren Hinch used to say "That's Life" I intend to see my plan through to the end, your advice and that of others will guarantee me success. So again Thank you
Obtus, if you don't mind me asking?
Do you consume actives? or is your interest purely in mushrooms in all their forms?

Hello Nevermind Thanks for reply
I saw the 12.5g picture you uploaded, and it got me thinking how many trips that would be for yourself?, for me I'd rather a bigger trip, and although they can go horribly wrong, there's nothing like the audio and visual effects that a large trip gives. if i could, i'd always consume around 4-5 grams, not always nice, but when it is, IT'S AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I'll need around 500 grams dried to last me a year!!! don't know if I'll have that amount this year I still haven't found a second patch (looking more this weekend)
Do you listen to music when tripping? I do, i find dance, trance amazing, i even listen to Commodore 64 and Amiga music on it it's cool
btw, Everyone, sorry for the amount of thanks you's.
I say it cause it took me along time to realizes that I've lived a very selfish life. I can not therefor, not show my gratitude for when someone helps me (no matter how small) still, sorry if it's annoying.

Hello
i rarely post on this site LOL
but FAR OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My good friends, i was a bit worried that i was not going to find any actives other then the place that my friend told me about. But, truth be told, i can't keep taking from his patch, he placed his trust in me by revealing the location, as my friend is out of town for awhile, i knew i had his blessing to go there and grabs (but thanks to someone else there ain't much left there, as they continue taking pins!!!!)
makes me very mad
anyway
I went for a walk this morning (somewhere else), and low and behold i found these

I am 99.99% sure that the are Psilocybe subaeruginosa (i do see blue staining, but more on the caps then the stems. plus it been raining heaps in the last 7 days) (Also, notice the big one that has split!!!! it's massive!!!! )
Today is a VERY good day
As if i haven't asked enough questions (sorry) any confirmations on them being subs please?
Also Thanks for any and all replies (concerning these finds)

The average person is going to trip fairly hard from 3g dried.
An ounce of dried subs is an insanely huge dose (roughly the same as 2 ounces of dried cubes). There's really no point dosing that high unless you have a huge tolerance to psiolcybin. Eating an ounce of subs in one sitting honestly just seems like a waste to me - but hey, they're you're shrooms so do what you like with them.

5g dried is awesome if you choke down that much.
I prefer mine fresh (better kick more visual i find) and the 30g-45g fresh is pure bliss!! Sit back, watch the world dance and fly by.

of course there are exceptions but only if going for a ID or a sample it is crucial to have the full speicmen. pulling up Subs just for show is stupid next time just take a picture of them in the ground and not pull them up

Nice hauls nevermind and blessed , pretty sweet subs too sbw man. I found a few today in suburbia today. Found some pins in another spot the other day. Good to find emr after going to the effort to go out of town and finding four lone ranger shrooms also found some pins in another part of town. One of my fave spots is not fruiting yet which is weird. I have seen hunters in this spot and found a couple random shrooms but not heaps. It's all barkchips with heaps of mycellium underneath would it have been raided or just not fruiting yet? Anyhow, here's a pic of tonight's haul Some nice meaty caps huh. Hoping to see lots of these soon.

I sit a paper towl over the hippo and than place biggest ones directly on top.

Not a problem blessed, love your enthusiasm! I've been taking spores prints of my own and will be actually planting em in my yard amongst bark chips. Thrown out so many papers with spores in the past few years I could've had a raging patch by now
